Read all the reviews and having spent a lot of time in France over the years thought that this would be a nice change, and it was. The restaurant is set out nicely and is inviting. Staff right from the start were lovely. The menu is quite diverse and classic french. We had snails, with a brilliant sauce, bouillabaisse and the cassoulet. Service was wonderful from all with a special mention for Sarah.

Came here as it was near the hotel. What a great choice it turned out to be.
The food was superb with service to match. Classic Oysters and Charcuterie for entree followed by Fish and Pork as mains. Good choice of wines helped by friendly advice from the staff. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

We booked an early dinner for 2 at this smart and friendly French brasserie tucked down a lane nears Flinders Street Station. Service from the waiting staff and owner was good and the food was excellent. You can't go past the French classics here: 6 garlicky snails, baked Camembert, Bouillabaise and Turbot.

It was hard to choose between the 'fish stew' Buillabaise and Cassoulet and while it wasn't the best I have had on my travels it was hearty and fresh and there was plenty of fish and shellfish in it.

The house red was good value and overall it was a great occasion restaurant ($200 2 courses for 2 with 3 wines each) and a good option when you want the classics.

Bonjour Michael,

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with a review of your visit and experience here at The French Brasserie. I'm pleased to hear that you had a lovely evening, and it seems that you did indeed elect from our tried and true classics - with our twist on them.

I'll be sure to pass on your comments, constructive feedback and compliments to our chef and team. I'm unsure if you noticed, but we also have on our menu a 5 course Degustation menu fro $95 per person (if you wanted to add paired wines for all 5 courses just add $50 each)

It's excellent value for money, and also allows for you to taste many of our signature dishes and items not on the menu - perhaps for next time?

Thanks for your recommendation, we appreciate it and hope to see you again soon.

Merci,

Chrissy S

Dined here on a Saturday evening as part of a group of eighteen (significant birthday for one of our party), seated in the mezzanine area at the end of the main restaurant.

Service was suitably attentive and friendly without being over-the-top, and food tasty and beautifully presented. Turbot and Lamb backstraps especially fine main choices, all of the entrees were lovely. Crème Brulee spot-on as a dessert option. Great wine list too.

Bonjour KiwiCriticDunedin,

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with a review of your visit here at The French Brasserie. It sounds like it was a lovely way to celebrate a significant celebration, and I'm pleased to hear that our staff and team took great care of you.

We've recently just changed our menu, so it's nice to receive your feedback and that the lamb is a winner. The Crème Brulee is a classic and favourite of many (myself included here) - I think we'd be in big trouble if we ever thought about removing it from the menu. We're not though lol..

I'm pleased that there were a number of elements you enjoyed, and thank you for your review and recommendation. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

Merci,
