“Brilliant for family holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

This hotel was brilliant for a family of 4. We stayed in 2 bedroom apartment. We have a 15 year old and 11 year old. Apartment was really spacious with the highest ceilings which made it seem enormous, considering a lot of Melbourne accommodation is like a shoebox. Great kitchen with a laundry off it. The washing machine stopped working on the second day and was fixed by the time we got back after being out all day. The lounge room is very room. Small balcony. Good size bedrooms with wardrobe space. Great location. Clean, modern and tidy. Was only a little noisy on the weekend, but not anything too noticable. Would highly recommend and definitely stay again.

Great location and loved the rooms!

I stayed for 4 nights in February as the apartments I normally stay at were fully booked. I normally wouldn’t go out of my way to review a place but I really loved Quest Hero.
I travel to Melbourne from Sydney every second week for work. This place felt like a home away from home for me. The staff were great, the location was excellent and my apartment was perfect.
I booked a 1 bedroom apartment but was put in what they call a 2 bedroom standard apartment. It was basically a 1 bedroom with study so it had a bit more room than I would have expected from a 1 bedroom apartment. I was on the 6th floor and I had a great view over the churchs on Collins St. The the room was nice a quiet, the bed wasextra comfortable and the room had all the amenties I needed.
I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to being back there next week.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February. We had a 1 bedroom area loft apartment (although they call it 2 bedroom – don’t be fooled it is 1 bedroom with a loft).

The positives:
- Location is good and convenient for most things you’ll need to get to in Melbourne. It is also easy to get a number of trams for those places a little bit further out such as St. Kilda.
- Compared to surrounding accommodation price was good for the space but privacy in a loft apartment is always compromised to some degree and explains the cheaper rate

The negatives:
- Building itself is devoid of any character or ambience. Reception area is like walking into a something you see on a B rate horror movie before you step into the lift of doom. The narrow street also means that on the lower levels your room will be permanently dull regardless of the amount of sunlight.
- This is not made any easier by some limited skills shown by the reception staff. I have never stayed anywhere before where when you walk right past the reception area that there is not even a brief “Hello” shot in your direction. When you do speak with them it is difficult to get any form of additional information other than the literal answer to your question such as “Does the Skybus stop near here?” Answer: “Yes” and that’s it. (Oh and take care it doesn’t unless you have booked!). And as for a smile – I am sure it is difficult when sitting in this reception area but hey give it a go...
- The lifts are slow – if you just miss one and the people are on level 7 take a seat, you’ll be a while
- Not sure how the housekeeping roster works but we did not have housekeeping one of the days we were there.
- Noise. We had a room with a “view” onto the street. Before the first light of day you will be subjected to the constant beeping of service vehicles and trucks as they reverse to pick up rubbish/park and prepare for another busy day. I know we are in the CBD and I am a pretty good sleeper but it was ridiculous.

Overall:
The room we stayed in had a Queen, 3 singles and a fold out sofa. So if you wanted to be in Melbourne CBD on the cheap then this would be worth looking at but would we stay here again? No. The money we saved was in no way offset by the noise, darkness and lack of interest.

Oh and a tip, we didn’t have a car so not an issue for us but be aware that the fee for their car park is $25 PER EXIT

We just spent 5 nights in order to attend the Aust open. We only got house keeping once in the 5 nights which was not good enough for what they call a 4 star hotel. Too much noise from the streets to sleep properly but can honestly say that the beds were the most comfortable that I have ever stayed in. They advertise that MOST of the rooms have floor to ceiling windows - rubbish, this is the thing that sold it too me the most and I rang last week to check on the accommodation and was told that they will see what they can do. The young 'lady' at the front desk needs to be a little more customer orientated or get a new job. The reception has tiles and steps not good for older people. Mum slipped over when we were leaving and only a vistor came to her aide, staff did not even asked if she was OK or came to her aide. By the way she is not OK . The older gentleman with bead was nice. But I would say forget this place would rather pay a 'little'extra and stay somewhere else.

Me and 6 of my mates travelled interstate for a music festival, had booked in to stay for 4 nights. On the 2nd (friday) night we where there we went out come home and went to bed. Got woken up several times by other people running around the hallways and door knocking in the early hours of the morning. 3rd day the day of the festival we woke up and started having some drinks before the festival and noticed someone from another room had thrown a chair onto a buildings roof next door. At around 2pm we got the reception to order us a mini bus at 3pm. That time had come and at 3.10pm we got a call from a manager named alex blaming us for throwing the chair off a balcony, running around the hallways door knocking and damaging the walls and got blamed for damage to our rooms, they said if we did not leave within half an hour police where going to escort us from the complex. Before we handed our keys over, i walked around with my phone on video mode to prove that we had all four chairs in both rooms and couldnt find any damage in either rooms or the main hallway. We phoned the manager and asked to see the video of us supposedly doing the above actions, he did not even try to get the video to prove it, the receptionist was not helpful at all with the situation. For a fact all six of us did not do it because we had saved up for 6months and had planned for this trip, choosing quest as a nice hotel company to stay with. Once kicked out there was only rooms in the city worth 1500 plus a night that sleep 2. We all had to sleep in a nearby carpark for the nights like a homeless people when it was 8degrees and very breezy. Woke up the next morning found a new hotel malino apartments 8 Franklin st. The service was good and thr receptionist informed us that she has had over a dozen different people rang up with same problem but also from crowne. Me and my mates have sworn never to stay at quest ever again and would not recommend it at all. This had ruined our whole weekend and don't even think we will ever come down to Melbourne again because of this. Jack Upstill NT

This hotel certainly exceeded my expectations! I would say that every aspect of this hotel impressed me and a very friendly receptionist (one of the best I've ever come across actually - unfortunately don't remember his name) was a great start to an almost perfect stay. We were also unexpectedly upgraded to a beautiful room with more than what was needed provided and of great value. It was in a great location and everything we needed/wanted was in a small walking distance. Only one small thing to complain about was being woken up fairly early by the garbage trucks below on the first night... which can't really be avoided or changed. Upon my arrival and shortly discovering how great of a value our room was, I immediately expressed my happiness via various social networking sites and friends who visited were also very impressed! It made my trip very pleasurable and i do plan on staying there again. Once again like to mention the friendly receptionist who seemed very interested in what i had to say, he works on Thursdays if that helps...give him a raise! (haha) I'm not a very fussy person but honestly didn't expect this kind of luxury from what i had paid. Definitely recommend staying there!

We had a 2 bedroom executive apartment for 4 nights in November. We were located in the newer wing and the apartments were clean and well furnished. Apartment was serviced daily except Sunday and staff were attentive and helpful. Parking was full but they had arrangements with the nearby Wilson Parking for parking at $25 per exit. We could park there for four nights for that flat exit fee. Get around Melbourne by the free tram and shuttle! Being next to Chinatown and the Bourke street shopping area was a definite plus as well!
