Description: When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes. It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

Fantastic restaurant, with great atmosphere and the best tapas I've eaten in Australia. Quite hard to get a table though, but worth the wait :)

We stopped in for a bite before heading out to a concert, no reservation but they accommodated us straight away, sitting at the bar felt authentic. The sangria is great and the food was amazing. The bar man knew his stuff too. The tapas are small but the quality more than makes up for the size. The lamb tongue special was unbelievably good.

Staff were attentive and polite. Clean kitchen with a great atmosphere. Food was unique with fantastic flavours.
Sit near the windows and near the kitchen because it’s great to watch the food come out.
Highly recommended!

Make sure you book, this restaurant never fails to impress me but it can be very hard to get a table. The waitstaff are extremely well trained & I normally pick a couple of things & let them select the rest, you won't be disappointed.

We had tapas and several main courses. They were very good and so was the service. Rather different combinations and flavors than the usual tapas. The combination of salty kingfish or anchovy with sorbet worked well. The mussels were huge and had a pea and potato sauce, very flavorful. The special was red snapper with clams and corn. The broccolini came with a red sauce that had plenty of macadamia nuts. The beef cheek was tender but rather ordinary. We had a good rioja recommended by one of the waiters after our first choice of Spanish wine did not taste right. Too full for dessert. 4.5*
