We arrived at Barnhill Station for a 4-6 week stay with no expectations except good fishing but what we found was a back to nature station stay (no not a 5 star caravan Park) but a relaxing tree filled place to stay, really lovely beaches with lots of photo opportunities, friendly people, shady sites altho limited power but capable of keeping things running okay, cleaned daily shower and toilets basic but with lots of hot water, a delicious 3 course roast on a sunday for the low price of $15pp great staff and a very hard working proprietor and we ended up stayed till the middle of August and will more than likely be going back. If you are looking for 5 star accomodation then this is not for you but if you are looking for a wonderful place to relax and unwind then why not try Barnhill Station I did and I'm happy I did maybe you will be too.

We stayed 3 nights on our way north to Broome. Beautiful location and a lovely shady park. We thought it was very friendly. The facilities are very basic, but fairly clean. Fresh hot bread every morning was welcome and a novelty for the kids. Beautiful beautiful beach with good access. No eftpos facilities so take cash. Sunday night roast - 3 course meal for $15.

A short 10 kilometres of dirt road will bring you to one of the most spectacular views you will ever see. Barn Hill is part of a working cattle property and provides a little bit of paradise for those who enjoy nature. It is not a five star caravan park so if that is what you expect forget it.

On arrival the friendly staff allowed us to choose our site rather than sending us to a site we may or may not have liked. We chose and then let them know where we were. Barn Hill offers a caravan area with limited power under shady trees and on grass. The power is limited as the station is not connected to the electricity grid and must produce it's own. On the wilderness side are sites in an area where generators can be used within set hours. We chose the wilderness site as the views were spectacular and we preferred it to sitting under trees in the caravan park.

The beach seems to go for miles. You can swim, kayak, fish, walk along the beach and check out the rock pools or just relax and enjoy the view.

The facilites are rather rustic, but they are cleaned daily and are definitely adequate. You will have a short walk to a rubbish point to dispose of your rubbish, but this is done to discourage feral animals from attacking bins within the camp and lets face it a walk never hurt anyone. There are great photo opportunities and I personally enjoyed watching and cataloguing the bird life.

There is limited telephone and internet coverage, however don't forget you are 150 kilometres away from any major centre.

We would definitely recommend this special spot to everyone. At night this turns into a million star accommodation.

We have been visiting Barn Hill annually since 2004...a very beautiful setting. This is a very rustic place in a wonderfull location full of freindly visitors.

Unfortunatly the owners have taken a very dimm view of the clientele the past couple of years and really dont care less what happens around the place. The basic faclities are now very run down and general overall Maintanance is negligable these days.

This place was built up on its fishing reputation but now management seems hell bent on detroying that reputation with absurd restrictions in place. Many regulars of many years standing are now seeking an altrenative.

Total property is well overdue for an overhal and approaching a very rundown unloved state. Beware. Cavaleir attitide of management robs this place of it tranquil charm.

Be warned, if its boating you like, management is against you from the word go. They openly state that boaties are not all that welcome any more. Cleaning of the days catch is strongly discouraged in the park and the Calvalier management sides strongly with Fishing Authorities to the point of intimidation.

For us, never again.

Room Tip: Dont book and dont go.Cavalier attitude

Well there is so much to say about Barn Hill Station stay. To sum it up it was one of the most amazing places i ever sayed. My wife and i arrived for a week unplanned and stayed for two and half months. The views are amazing along the coast and the fishing is out of this world.
Barn Hill is a Station Stay, not a 5 star city Caravan Park, and you have basic and clean ammenities and basic power to run your lights and fridges. There is 100m walk to the rubbish trailer just on the outskirts of the caravans that gets emptied every day. The reason for this short walk is that it keeps the critters(wild cats, etc) away from your caravans. If there were bins everywhere this could be a problem. A short walk does one good!!!
The water is bore, and is very drinkable, and there are taps all over the camping area to fill your tanks.
There are approx 80/100 sies with shade at some part of the day. Like anywhere with beauty you have to pre book one of these sites, well in advance. The internet reception is in and out all day so dont rely on it, you are 140kms from the closest town and in the bush!!!!!!
If you are fully self contained, with generator etc there are plenty of sites in the wilderness area.
Like everywhere you go, there are some people that think they own the place and they far and few between. We met so many nice people there and made friends for life.
The owner Janice is a very busy Lady, and if your lucky enough to meet her she is an extraordinary person.
Enjoy your stay.
