“Still one of the best”
Reviewed 2 June 2012

Hyatt Hotel is still after all these years one of the best in Perth we found our room beautifully furnished very spacious- met all our needs
The large Atrium over looks the foyer area which is a hive of activity- its location is adjacent to various function rooms and can get pleasantly noisy - we where perfectly happy watching the various visitors moving around – I found the staff very friendly and professional – the location of the hotel is near the river and a short 5 minute taxi ride from the centre of the CBD Hay and Murray street Mall’s the department store David Jones and the main shopping areas.
Friends restaurant within the Hyatt complex is a serious formal restaurant with a very serious wine list! All in all we found this property to exceed our needs and would happily return

Dear wanderingspoon,
It is pleasing to hear you enjoyed your recent stay here and we appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. We are fortunate to be able to offer guests the most spacious guest rooms within the CBD, many of which have a fantastic view over the beautiful Swan River. The hotel recently completed the most extensive refurbishments in its history with new furnishings in guest rooms, public areas and a refreshed rooftop poolside area. We trust that you were able to enjoy some of the hotel’s leisure facilities and we look forward to welcoming you back again one day so you can once again experience the ‘Hyatt touch’.
Regards,
Adaom Myott,

Nice welcome on arrival, clean and well appointed room, refurbished (albeit basic) bathroom, generous room service breakfast. All the things you look for, but just failed to make my stay memorable in any way. If you're looking for a solid vanilla business travel experience this is it.

Room Tip: Ask for close to the lifts - you don't get any noise and some are a fair way from the lifts.

I stayed in this hotel for six nights in May. There is nothing really wrong with this hotel, but nothing great either. Rooms are nice, bed is comfortable, and everything is clean. I know Perth is expensive, but the price of this room was very high. They also charge for internet, an extra 1.5% on your bill if you use a credit card, and the breakfast in the lobby restaurant is $36 AUS. Skip the restaurant and go to the coffee shop in the basement, as it is much more reasonable.

Not many places in Perth are more suitable for a Mother/Daughter lunch out with sister, daughter and nieces, than The Cafe at The Hyatt. With so many stations to pick from, small appetites, vegetarians, big eaters and dessert lovers are all well catered for.
The seafood was fresh and plentiful with beautiful plump oysters and good sized prawns. The Lamb Roast was very tender and served with rich gravy or mint sauce if preferred. There was a good choice of bread and rolls, but we knew better than to fill up on them after seeing the selection of desserts. With so many in shot glasses or small portions, it was easy to sample "a few" and the flat white coffee to finish on was well made and nice and hot.
Good service and a very relaxing three hours!

This is not 5 star, only stayed for two nights. The first room was a joke, noisy, small and old stained furniture. They moved me up to club level 8. Still noisy all through the night with the sound of taps running and toilets flushing every 30 seconds and got no sleep at all.
Charged me for room service I hadn't signed for and the manager wouldn't even come out of his office to discuss. Gutless.
Food was shocking the chef should be sacked.
Never again would I even consider staying in this overpriced poorly designed joke of a hotel.
I asked the concierge if people complain and he said "yes mainly about the price"
They complain about the price because this hotel is sub standard. Knock it down and start again!

We stayed here on a Saturday night in May 2012. The hotel is easy to find and the access by road is really uncomplicated. Efficient and friendly valet parking available or you can use the underground car park yourself which is accessed from the river side of the hotel (not Adelaide Tc). Check-in was easy and pleasant. First impressions on walking in through the foyer is it is clean, modern, spacey, friendly and has a nice feel to it.

We had room 543 on the 5th floor overlooking the beautiful Swan River. Room was immaculate, with plenty of space and fully functional. Bathroom had a nice bath, separate large shower and was very clean. Mini bar fully stocked with lots of goodies. King size bed was very comfortable with excellent pillows. Turn down service was also offered.

Restaurants are pricey (nothing new with most hotel chains in Australia) but there are plenty of other restaurants and cafes etc located outside the hotel. A short walk to river, parks, Bell Tower and many other tourist attractions and city center. A short drive to the Casino. We had a full breakfast included and it was very nice and recommended. We had dinner at the hotels Oriental restaurant but whilst the restaurant surrounds was nice, the food was really over priced and so similar to style as Chinese fast food take away it was really disappointing. We should of tried a eatery outside the hotel as there are plenty of choices and the Casino at Burswood has plenty of options too. However the hotel bar was great and service excellent.

Checkout was smooth (I use the fast checkout option) and no issues with the billing.

Over all a highly enjoyable stay and would use this hotel again for sure.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up are bigger and get a better view of the magnificent Swan River - you will love it.

What is it with classy Perth hotels? How can they justify prices that are at least AUD100 more than any other Australian city? Why do we allow them to get away with it?

I enjoy staying at the best hotels when travelling on business and/or vacation and I have experienced some of the best hotels in the world - this is not one of them, and most charged less than the over AUD400 per night I paid!

I checked in and showered and then went out with some friends. On returning I noticed a distinct cigarette smell in the room. The towels had been replaced so I can only assume it was a member of staff that had entered the room. I do not believe they were smoking whilst in the room but the reek on their clothes remained. I did not have a good night's sleep at all.

Have you had a similar experience. Surely management insists on staff not smoking during working hours?

I am a platinum member of Hyatt but felt that I was not treated any differently from a guest that may have walked in off the street. There was no upgrade and no recognition of my status. I can say honestly that this was my worst experience at any Hyatt hotel worldwide and I have stayed at many in my journeys around the world.

Dear WellTravelledAussie2
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay at Hyatt Regency Perth, which is very much appreciated. I would certainly like to apologise for the lingering smell of smoke that was present in your room and for the inconvenience caused; this is clearly unacceptable and has been addressed with our Housekeeping management team accordingly.
It was also disappointing to note that as a valued Gold Passport member, no recognition was given on this occasion to your Platinum status as indeed should have been the case. As hotel manager I am concerned that this visit fell short of your expectations, particularly in relation to value for money and the quality of experience provided. I would therefore welcome the opportunity to know of any other specific issues you may wish to highlight; this being the case, I would ask you to please contact me further on hrperth.gm@hyatt.com so that I can then address these and ensure improvements are made.
Regards,
Adam Myott,
