Kiwi International Hotel
Ranked #36 of 66 Hotels in Auckland Central
Reviewed 8 August 2017 via mobile

This hostel is well placed in Auckland, few minutes walking to queen street. Big and clean room with bathroom. Beds are ok, depending of people exigencies. You can have a breakfast for 15$ or go in the city for a better place...

We were traveling around Australia and New Zealand with my daughter's choir group. Our rooms were arranged for us by the travel company. I would not pick this hotel as an option on my own. This is a lower rate and low budget hotel. So, I guess you get what you pay for. The rooms are small and not updated, but the bathrooms were clean upon arrival. We were there for three nights and we did receive clean towels when needed. The staff was polite and helpful. The food was not great and I would plan to eat at a near by restaurant instead of eating at the hotel.

Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to place a review. You are correct, we are most definitely a budget hotel, aimed at serving the budget conscious traveler. I can imagine the tour company that booked your stay was trying to keep costs as low as possible for your trip and hence, reserved our accommodation. There are definitely higher grade accommodation options available in plenty in Auckland City, however we cater specifically to a price driven market. We are glad you found our hotel to be clean and friendly. Kind regards.

Basic room but very functional, clean and with a friendly and helpful staff.
I spent 3 great nights in this hotel and certainly recommend.

PS.:The Travel Desk, adjacent to the hotel lobby, is a great tip.The service is independent from the hotel, but I can say they will make good deals and arrangements on travels and tours around New Zealand.

The location is strategic both for center and nightlife. A lot of young guest is the proof that the hotel is perfect as a short term stay for fun or Auckland.
Rooms are clean but the windows need to be restructured...too wind enterszzz
Not suggested for business.

Very basic accommodation and if you are travelling on budget, kiwi international hotel would be the perfect choice as your resting point.

i was travelling in the winter and choose to stay in Kiwi while i am in Auckland. it has access to the queen street and 10-15 mins walk to the city center (sky tower, etc). many eateries around especially Asian foods.

the staffs are so friendly and guide as perfectly, the reception told us many information on how to get to the airport with effective ways.

Room Tip: simple room, budget

This is definitely a budget hotel, but with luggage storage and reasonably friendly front desk staff, it was ideal for a short stopover in Auckland.

I stayed in a twin single room away from the street. The bed was very comfortable - which was fantastic as I can't sleep on planes, and had a 30-hour trip the following day.

A few things to be aware of - the walls are paper thin. There was some corridor noise; however, it wasn't too bad late at night. The ensuite bathroom was tiny (especially for a tall person), and it had a great hot shower. It is a bit of a walk down the hill to the CBD.

For under $100 NZ a night, it fit my needs, and I'd be happy to stay again during a future stopover.

Room Tip: Away from the street is good.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 separate nights;

Checked into the hotel once we’ve touched down. Check in procedure was a breeze and wifi was decent, strong enough to support Facetime.
Walked through the gloomy and washed-out walkway and pass several fire control doors prior reaching our room at the 2nd floor.
Room was small (those door-to-bed kinda spacing), but didn’t bother us much as we just need somewhere to rest before heading out early the next day.
Small decent ensuite bathroom, most importantly with hot water available since we were there at the start of winter. Surprisingly without a heater in the room, we felt warm and comfortable, not freezing.
Don’t count on their “Clothes cabinet” though, which is basically a small musty store room at the side of the room with few hangers….

We headed to the Bay of Island for the next 2 days and they offered free luggage storage in their storage room, whereby the room is magnetically locked and opened at the concierge. A very helpful service for us as we wouldn’t wana carry our entire luggage to Bay of Islands and carry them back again.

Checked back in 2 days later with everything intact, nothing lost.

Not too bad for location; its located 15mins walk away from intercity bus terminal and lotsa nice cafes and convenient stores within 5 - 10mins walk.
Hotel has a dining area at ground level as well and Flexi Tours desk is just next to the concierge. We happened to be taking one of their tours during one of the days hence tour confirmation and pickup is really convenient.!

Overall, good for a short stay especially when Auckland is your 1st destination during your trip where you have not much things to store.
Prolly not so recommended if you have loads of bags and clothes to air / unpack as it is a very basic room with very limited space – essentially you get what you pay for : )

Tip:
Opt for a room further from the lift area as rooms are not sound proof. Guests checking in with their luggage at odd timings may be disturbing for light sleepers.
