We had a Horrible experience at the Debrett, and it was 100 percent due to the lack of professionalism and rude attitude of the day mangement The ownership should know how guests are treated and take appropriate action ...
The front desk manger literally told me that we were being too demanding for asking for a map to be prepared that showed two locations and just failed to provide the information
The concierge was asked to also obtain information where a sheep skin rug could be purchased ..and alas just ignored the request and never provided the information
To be clear there really is no formal concierge and the front desk staff are obviously not properly trained ..Business travelers should steer clear of this hotel
I was at the hotel for less than 18 hours and wanted to take a tour of the city by air and book a helicopter as a final view before going on a transatlantic flight ..the hotel was kind enough to call a taxi but sent it to the wrong heliport .. SO WE COMPLTELLY WASTED OUR TIME and never got to take the helicopter... first they complain about providing basic information like where the helicopter flys from on a map. then they send us to the wrong location .... and then when confronted the management response was not an apology it was a nasty attitude and rude comments ...I have been to hundreds of hotels around the world and have never experience this lack of professionalism anywhere ....
btw the hotel is not inexpensive at $400/ night the bare minimum that is expected is civility

Hotel DeBrett lives by its motto, as the best boutique hotel in the heart of Auckland CBD. The Deluxe room was very spacious and provides enough space for our 6 year old to have his own bed. The beds are very comfortable including the pillow menu, the carpet is so inviting to just go barefoot. The bathroom is also spacious with underfloor heating. The bathroom is divine, deep and Himalayan salt is set next to it. Top the experience with the comfort of a velvet robe. Little touches that makes this hotel stay a stand out. The bars have their own characters. We started the night at the corner bar and sipped a couple of yummy cocktails whilst watching the world go by. Then we head to dinner at DeBretts kitchen. We were treated to exemplary service and delicious food. Then capped the night with crafty cocktails at the Housebar. Our experience was truly memorable and made even more special by the hotel staff. From check in to departure, we were looked after. If there's any hotel that you should choose to stay in the heart of th city, it's Hotel DeBrett.

We stayed five nights at Hotel DeBrett and we throughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was centrally located and it was within walking distance to many excellent restaurants, shops, piers and the ferry system. Our room was very spacious, comfortable, quiet and throughly cleaned every day. The breakfast that was included with our stay was delicious. The hotel staff went out of their way to insure that our stay would be pleasant. We look forward to staying here again.

Stayed at DeBretts for 2 nights. What a delightful gem and a perfect contrast to the big chain hotels.
It is in the heart of town, a slow 10 min walk to Sky City and the Harbour with various entertainment and eating option.
As well as 5 min to Albert Park and Auckland Uni.
I felt like visiting a family from the moment I walked in. Staff were friendly and professional. The room was immaculately clean, stylishly decorated, spacious with a super comfortable bed as well as a rest/“parlour” area with a skylight (a total surprise).
Free wifi
Included breakfast
Historic pub downstairs for that boutique NZ beer after work.
A delightful intimate bar upstairs that looked like something out of London.
I didn’t get a chance to dine at the hotels restaurant this time, but it has great reputation.
The little streets next to the hotel are full of cafes, bars and restaurants.
Really enjoyed my stay and looking forward to next time!
Thank you management and staff!

We stayed in HDB for our first 3 nights (Loft) in New Zealand, and looked forward spending our final night 4 weeks later in another Loft suite before returning to Canada....thank you SO MUCH to all the wonderful staff and new friends! This gem offers tasteful retro, artsy, whimsical rooms, dining, bar, at every turn!! If there is one thing that we wished for, it would be to be able to open a window for a breeze, but THAT is it! :)
