Our 2nd night in Napier and we chose to dine at the Exchange Brasserie as we have enjoyed dining there previously. Noticed a change as entering with new walls and doors at bar / restaurant. Waitress advised there would be a 30minute wait, so we leisurely read menu. When we asked what cut the "Wakanui Blue Rib" was, we were informed it was a rib eye steak. It was not, it was scotch steak. The menu said it was accompanied with shallots, mushrooms, pickles and truffle paste. Priced at $40.00 we foolishly thought this would be a portion of mixed veg as described, but it was just a hint on the side of plate. Not a complete meal. The waitress did not advise of this & did not ask if we wanted a side order of potatoes &/or veg, which ranging from $8 - $12 each would have made the steak meal ridiculously expensive. To top this off both the steak & other meal ordered arrived luke warm. When we let a waiter know he send another waiter to tell us the reason our meals were not served hot was that the steak had to rest & this is normal! Not acceptable, must try harder.
