My husband and I spent two nights with Mick & Teresa at their beautiful B&B in Rotorua. The property is extensive with beautiful gardens filled with fruit trees and animals. Mick & Teresa really go above and beyond with their accommodations as the property includes a separate cinema room complete with a small kitchen and snacks, a pool, and also Mick's homemade liqueurs available throughout the property.

Our room had an ensuite bathroom, a separate entrance, and a small fridge with milk. Teresa would leave us little homemade treats like pie and cookies while we were away and even wrapped up part of our breakfast the second day so we could have it later on a hike. Teresa's baking is truly world-class and we were spoiled with fresh breads each day in addition to their fabulous chutneys made from their produce grown right onsite.

The breakfasts were truly delicious and extensive with a big spread to start with on the table while they cooked the main course. The spread included fresh breads, homemade spreads and chutneys, homemade museli and granolas, fresh smoothies, yogurt, fruit, and Teresa even made me porridge with whiskey on the side after a story I told her about a trip to Scotland. Another delicious main course was a ham and cheese croissant.

Teresa and Mick were also having a tasting of Mick's liqueurs one night when we were there. It was a lot of fun to get to know them in addition to the other guests staying there. They had tons of recommendations in the area and were so helpful and welcoming. I would highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at Mokoia Downs. It was perfect for us - close to the lake and the town, comfortable room, beautiful grounds. We especially enjoyed Mick and Teresa - terrific hosts who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed Rotorua. They greeted us and treated us as family. We especially appreciated the excursions they suggested and arranged for us - Roger's bike tour of Rotorua and the night tour (glow worms in the wild!) whose name I have unfortunately forgotten. But it was fantastic, and best of all was away from the crowds. I cannot image a better place to stay. Breakfast was exceptional.

Room Tip: If there is a better breakfast, I am sure it's in Paradise.

We have just spent two nights with Mick and Teresa at their marvellous B&B. Lovely welcome with Teresa’s world class baking!! Set in five aces of grounds with gorgeous gardens and animals. Everything you could want there including an indie cinema, pool and Mick’s liqueurs!! Fabulous breakfast with Teresa’s specials each morning, and lots of their home grown organic produce. Great recommendations for walks, cycle rides and restaurants. UK’s loss is New Zealand’s gain!! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

When you stay at Mokoia Downs, you get so much more than just a place to sleep and a bite in the morning—you get to stay on a beautiful NZ farm with ducks, sheep, donkeys, hens, and guinea pigs, and gardens teeming with roses of every color. You also get to taste Mick's homemade liqueur, learn about organic farming from Teresa, and enjoy the tranquil setting of a farm with easy access to all the nearby attractions. Breakfast is a two-course affair with homemade smoothies, yogurt, jams, and bread. My husband and I greatly enjoyed this two night stay on our honeymoon. Thank you Mick and Teresa for your generous hospitality and the wonderful conversation!

My husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights at this beautiful place which was extra special because of the hosts Mick and Teresa. They have thought of everything. From the cinema room to the bar with Mick's home liquers and friendly service and chats. Teresa's home made biscuits in our room and home made cakes every afternoon. Everything home made from their organic garden. Absolutely delicious breakfasts each morning and attention to detail with everything on the table. Very helpful with some discount vouchers to various places. Thanks so much for everything! Sandy and Norm
