I had heard many good reports for Marinovichs So I rang to book for a special birthday and family get together lunch a couple of weeks ago, when I rang the owner Pete advised that they didn't open until 4.00pm.He asked how many people, when I told him eleven, he kindly offered to open early. The menu had so many choices, it was hard to choose, along with a great seafood selection which you would expect, there was also a lovely selection of meats. The salad choices were really nice along with there delicious chunky chips .One of the party was off carbs, so Pete kindly offered to cook him a roast vege salad, which went down a treat. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service from the owners was second to none. Pete had a great banter with our rowdy lot and Paula had picked some great wines. It is rather refreshing to go out for a meal and be looked after so well and have a delicious meal to boot. Thanks guys for making our day even more memorable, we will be back.

Very enjoyable meal. Staff could not have been any more helpful with the explanation of the menu and took the time to ask what we liked and how we would we would like it cooked. The seafood was gorgeous, can recommend the whitebait fritters, creamy mussels (yum!!), the seafood platter and the battered tarakihi with the winter coleslaw. Add a bottle of gerwutztraminer and it was a perfect meal.

We both ordered the fish of the day and loved it! The portions were generous and the real potato chips and fresh salads were amazing! Fish tasted fresh also.

Experienced this restaurant last night for the first time in years as it used to be an amazing seafood experience, but can honestly say we definitely will not return back here anytime soon. My partner and I reserved a table for our anniversary to find when we arrived, our table where they were going to have a seated was in use and we would have to sit at another table in the corner well away from other diners. Alarm bells should have gone off at this point. The service was below average....although not entirely the wait staff's fault. They were young and obviously not given enough training for working in the hospitality industry. Both our entrees were ok but our mains were appalling. We were told the fish of the day was red cod...a fish that all fisherman throw back because it's rubbish. We weren't told that there was any gurnard or snapper. We ordered a seafood platter that had completely under sized mussels and scallops (supermarkets have bigger than what was served), overcooked prawns which were hard and dry and overcooked dry fish. The oversized salad was probably the highlight of the dish. Buff oysters didn't taste fresh and we have since found out that they only get fresh deliveries twice a week!! Not what you want to hear from a seafood restaurant where you expect fresh!! $135 for an appalling seafood dinner.

Was a nice meal. Very loud and noisey place to eat. Expensive for what it is. But ok.
Oyster batter very doughy.
