First of all I have to say that the owner is very friendly and serviceable and tries to make you feel welcome. He bought this place 2 years ago so I guess the older reviews don't count as much.
I had booked a bed in a 3-person share room for 2 nights but when I arrived I was told that I had to sleep in a dorm the first night because the people who stayed in the share room wanted to extend their stay by 1 night. Apparently a reservation doesn't mean much at this place...
The second night I stayed in a 3-bed room which was much nicer.
However, the beds I slept in were very were terrible; old and sagging. Since sleeping and beds are the core business of a lodge, I suggest they invest a few pennies in new beds. This was by far the worst bed I slept in, possibly on all my travels of the past 8 years.
Furthermore, the bathrooms are not clean. The hallways and the rooms were vacuum cleaned (at least I saw somebody do it), however the bathrooms (I used 3 of them) clearly hadn't seen a mop in ages. I'm not talking about the kind of dirt you find in a bathroom that's being used by many people and cleaned regularly; I'm talking old dust that's sticking to the floor, dirty walls and sinks with dirt that had started to settle in. I didn't dare to look at the toilet itself. In the dorm room there were hundreds of dead flies by the window.
The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, half an hour's walk to the town centre where all the shops and restaurants are as well as the lake.
The hotel itself is not quiet; the lounge plays very loud 80's music all day long until late in the evening.
