All the rooms have an en-suite. The owner Brett is very nice and helpful with the hostel being very clean. The messages on the wall from past guests is really nice.

The kitchen is nice and big and has enough hobs for a number of people to cook on and a large fridge. Two lounges both with Netflix to enjoy and YouTube. The wifi is good. Bedrooms are nice (although they get cold in the winter)
It may be a bit of a walk from town but that doesn't matter. This place is not heated though, so when the temperature drops outside in the colder times it gets cold inside too. Best three weeks ever spent here.

This is a great place to stay if you are a backpacker in Taupo. It's a really nice building and while the bathrooms in the room area bit of a let down with each room having an en-suite it's great. The manager is really friendly and helpful I've enjoyed each time ive been here.

I booked this hostel pretty last minute and I can see why it still had beds available. It is a good 20 minute walk from the city but thankfully the owner picks you up from the inter city bus stop. The hostel itself needs work - paint work but also it is not very clean, plenty of flies when I was there. The laundry is also not good - my clothes didn't smell or look any cleaner. I was in a 6 bed dorm room with 5 guys which was not great. It was so hot that we slept with the room open. There is a little atmosphere here and the owner and the staff don't appear to really care or put too much effort into the running of the place. It appeared to be a great hostel, which one can assume, given all the messages on the wall but unfortunately, it no longer appears to be the case.

The hostel is a little on the basic side at first glance, but upon closer inspection it is actually a very well equipped hostel. We booked a private room, which was large and spacious (although the mattress was more of a series of springs with some cloth on the top). The internet was good, although stopped working at our end of the building. The kitchen was clean, large and well equipped.

Although we had a few gripes, we would happily stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed my time in this hostel. The common areas, amenities and rooms are very well maintained and super clean. Rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable. The kitchen area is sufficient in size and very well equipped – I’ve never seen so many spices in a hostel kitchen and Brett is bringing in fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden every day. While the hostel/building is very nice, Brett is certainly the highlight of this place. I guess he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met on this trip – super friendly, talkative and helpful. The location might be a bit outside town but therefor it’s very quiet and you can also enjoy a nice garden/patio and there’s also a shuttle service to the bus station if needed. I would definitely stay there again if in Taupo. Thanks Brett for the great time!
