Kia Ora and welcome, thank you for your lovely review. We call it 'the top of the Cable Car' or the 'Kelburn Lookout'. The Botanic Garden is just one of the nearby attractions.
It was like shooting fish in a barrel - tourists galore, paying a fair fare to take the red cable car up a couple of stops, and through the lit-up tunnel. To be fair, the fare included a chance to take pics on the old train model at the top, and you can walk down the small hill again afterwards, including a nice set of rose beds which are pretty to look at without the work. I just thought the cable car trip would be longer.
Kia Ora, thank you for visiting. The Cable Car is an iconic attraction in Wellington and is also a form of transport for locals trvaling between the city centre and the Kelburn Suburb. The quick historic journey only take about 5 minutes. The short trip gives you more time to visit nearby attractions at the top of the Cable Car.
View was nice at the top but I feel that for $7.50 per adult, we could’ve just walked up the hill to see the same view. Went quite slow and was very crowded when we were on there, filled with both tourists and locals trying to get home from work. Probably won’t do it again but would still recommend it to people, just so you can say you’ve done it
Kia Ora and welcome, thank you for visiting. Apologies for any inconvenience. We are quite busy during cruise ship seasons (Oct-April). You can also purchase your tickets online to avoid the queue. It is $4 one-way and $7.50 return. With one-way you can walk down through the beautiful Botanic Garden.
We walked from te papa museum to Wellington cable car was a great walk and lovely day
The ride was lovely with colourful lights in two tunnels
The garden walk was great as well some may find it little difficult to walk entire around as areas are hilly
Otherwise all was good
Small entry fee
Worth going one way up to the top, lights in the tunnel are pretty cool, view is nice & .youcan walk back through the botanical gardens. It is a really short trip though.
Kia Ora and welcome, thank you for visiting. Wellington Cable Car is an iconic attraction in Wellington and also a transport for locals that live around this area. The short historic trip allows more time for people to visit other nearby attractions such as the Cable Car Museum (free entry), Botanic Garden (free entry), Space Place and Zealandia (via free shuttle).
Every time we visit Wellington, without fail, we take the kids on the Cable Car. We love how the tunnels now have pretty lights in them now.
If the weather is nice, you can't beat going for a look around up the top and we enjoyed the Cable Car Museum too.
Kia Ora Frances, thank you for your awesome review, we're so honoured to have you traveling with us everytime you're here. Hope to see you again soon!
