Great hotel...

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 5, 2021
Great hotel for our family holiday. Everything exceeded expectations. Rooms were a good size and had comfortable beds. Being a relatively new hotel, everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, it was really good. Just feels like a well thought out affordable hotel. Conveniently located with an easy walk to town centre. No hesitation to stay here again.

We had a 4 night stay during the school holidays and couldn't fault it.
Exceptional value for Queenstown-family room was perfectly adequate. The frosted glass shower room caused much hilarity.
Breakfast options were superb and plenty to set you up for the day.
Just the right distance from town to stroll in for dinner every evening. Then we would stroll back and relax over a cuppa in front of the fire in the foyer/reception playing card games as a family. (Free tea and coffee on constant supply in the foyer-big tick!)
Wish there was this standard of 'tourist' hotel at this price everywhere we travelled!

Every staff member we dealt with was helpful, professional and friendly. We loved the great room, and had a lovely meal there one evening. Good sized gym, with plenty of floor space and mats.

Room was lovely, as were the views. Really couldn't fault it. Beds were super comfy and duvet felt cozy and luxurious. A great price, especially as it included breakfast. Staff were kind enough to make us up to-go boxes when we left early for an excursion. Extraordinarily clean, everywhere we went in the hotel. I've never stayed so well looked after.

Even the frosted glass box that contained the bathroom couldn't take away from our high opinions of the hotel. If anything, it made our trip more memorable and resulted in much hilarity!

Close to town, maybe a 5 minute walk down a steep hill. Not a problem for us at all.

Next time we visit Queenstown, we will be sure to stay at the Holiday Inn Express.

This hotel still appears brand new. Friendly reception staff, good restaurant/bar area with plenty of seating.
We were staying in a disabled access room as required for my husband who uses a wheelchair. Some good well designed features in the room - fold down shower seat and accessible basin with mirror at a good height. Areas to improve on - no shelving in the bathroom to store anything, shower slide rail doesn’t come low enough down for a seated person to reach, not sufficient space next to the bed for turning around in a wheelchair.
The included breakfast is excellent with both hot and cold options, as well as gluten free choices on request. We will definitely stay here again.

Well finally it was time for a stay away once more yay!
This new hotel in Queenstown is in a great location and opened in July 2020. So due to COVID its still very new.
Car parking is good at $25 per night but in the summer months there is plenty of street parking but for the winter you'd want to get the car in the underground car park for sure.
Breakfast is very good -- good selection and it rates each day as well and always fresh -- its the standard style for e Holiday In Express but very good considering its in your room rate.
We have a King Mountain view room and it was fine and a good view and very quiet as well.
Security at the hotel is good and lots of card access but thats good.
Sadly we did have a few issues
1/ the first night we went to shower and there was no towels in the room at all -- rang front desk and we did get them in five mins of calling
2/ second night the glasses we had used were still dirty and not washed from housekeeping
3/ the in room supplies of coffee and tea were not replaced and hence we had none

Small things but it was a bit of a hassle and sad really

Room tip: The rooms are all good and the mountain view is nice if you want it and all rooms seem to be very well sound proofed

Loved this hotel for a six night stay, which lived up to previous reviews.

The staff were great, rooms are modern style, well equipped with 240 volt power points and USB points to charge your gadgets.

The breakfast was great with a number of hot and cold choices. The Great Room, which is great, is used for breakfast and for the rest of the day is used for relaxing and to eat and drink by the fire.

The front desk doubles as the bar and the place to order food. The same staff provide all the services in the Great Room. The Great Room, makes this a standout from all the other Holiday Inn Express hotels we have been to.

The parking is secure under cover beyond a room key operated gate. Access to the hotel is through a secure internal door. A very well thought out design that would be especially good in winter.

The rooms aren't the biggest we have experienced at Holiday Inn Express hotels and I found the bed a bit firm, but even so, overall I would say it is the best Holiday Inn Express we have stayed at whether in Australia, USA or Europe/UK.

The location is close to town, and while the hill up is quite steep when walking, Queenstown has a very good and frequent bus service that goes past the hotel. Make sure you buy a Bee Card to use the bus because then the fare anywhere is only $2 and not $4, and if you have a NZ seniors SuperGold Card, you can link it to the Bee Card and have free travel 9am-3pm and after 6.30pm and all day on the weekends.

I definitely recommend this hotel.

Room tip: Our south side room did have a slightly distant lake view
