We have been staying in the Terraces for Tourists at Christmas time for the last 5 years and we have always been absolutely thrilled at the family-friendly accommodation that these boutique terraced apartments offer. These apartments are situated within easy walking distance of Newcastle Beach, Newcastle Baths, Parnell Place, the shops, hotels, cafes and restaurants the top end of Hunter Street, and all the cafes, restaurants and parks along the fore shore. They are also close to Nobbys Beach, Fort Scratchley and the Stockton Ferry, which the children always enjoy. This fabulous location provides access to safe swimming for all the family, as well as an amazing array of eating places, playgrounds and parks suitable for everyone.
The terraces themselves have been tastefully renovated and furnished and are quite luxurious. Our family has stayed in 6 of the various apartments over the years and all of them are well equipped with an extensive range of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, baking dishes and glasses; and the apartments are well serviced.
This year our family stayed in Beatrice and Adeline which are adjoining terraces with an adjoining courtyard at the back. This was perfect for our two families which included young children. Although these two apartments had narrow, steep stairs which presented some anxious moments for an older member of the family, they were definitely manageable. Parking, however, was an issue as neither of these apartments had a garage, unlike those in which we have stayed before; and there was only two hour parking spots in our street. Consequently this involved purchasing all-day parking tickets, looking for parking spots and some inconvenience with the groceries and baggage. At least next time we will be aware of the situation. It would also be good if the back doors of the apartments had screen doors, as the mosquitoes were rampant at dusk. For some reason there was no problem with mosquitoes at the front door. Nevertheless these apartments are fantastic for families and the location is absolutely perfect. I definitely have and would recommend these to anyone visiting Newcastle.
