Perfect holiday in a beautiful location, with great service, amazing food, wonderful
team of people and a divine room. Definitely plan to return again .... as we didn't get a chance to try the day spa !

We had the most wonderful weekend at Spicers. The service was impeccable, the staff were really professional and helpful and the room with the open fireplace was superb. A trip to the spa is a must!!!

Having stayed at Spicers locations previously in SE Queensland locations, it was an obvious choice for our 3 night visit to the Hunter Valley - our first trip there for 5 years ! There are some positives about Spicers Vineyard Estate but when paying $500 per night, there are a few little issues as well. First, the positives - the location was fine - a little way out from Central Pokolbin and that's good. The room was large - more than 50 square metres, the king bed was very comfortable and all the staff very friendly. Also, the included mini bar and bringing of an evening cocktail to your room (because there was no bar) was a nice touch. But a few negatives - there were no drawers in the room and no luggage rack on which you could place a bag so we had to live out of a suit case on the floor. In fact, the room was slightly sparsely furnished and the television small but the seating and desk was adequate, although there was no light over the desk. In the bathroom, there were no cupboards and the shower was over the bath - and no screen or shower curtain, meant the floor got wet. Botannica restaurant is a little walk away but all path lights had not been maintained so the walk was a little dark in places. The breakfast was included but was pleasant but fairly basic - the hot dishes were ordered separately and unfortunately, they were cold on our last morning but we couldn't afford the 20 minutes wait for a replacement . After all, we had to make the 10.30 am checkout on a Sunday morning - which was a bit early. So, in summary, a very pleasant place to stay for a week end of wine tasting and purchasing but I just expected a few refining touches when paying over $500 per night.

Room Tip: The new room at either end are more expensive but probably worth it.

I'll get straight to the point in terms of customer service thus far this has been the best I have received here in Aussie. The staff at Spicers were exceptional! The attention to detail was not missed; birthday present and card in the room, lush bath products, burning candles, complimentary bar service, complimentary cocktail delivered early evening. The room was comfortable, clean with a warm and lovely decor and open fireplace and great table top books to browse. The bathroom was gorgeous and we especially loved the spa overlooking the vineyards and heated flooring. The Yamaha sound system was great with well selected romantic and relaxing music. Beautiful grounds, loved visiting the veggie patch and friendly pigs and local kangaroos hanging about. Botanica restaurant was superb and once again the staff were beyond attentive but not overbearing. We had a luscious massage at Anise Spa, where much thought has obviously gone into massage technique; loved the fact the massage ended with the back of the body being massaged. What more can u ask.... No wait.... A departing gift of bottled water and yummy gourmet biscuits. Honestly Spicers you have nailed it! Keep up those beautiful smiles and great work ethic!! I can't wait to come back!!

For our 1st wedding anniversary, we wanted to stay in a region that we had not been to together. We noticed that the Hunter Valley had their Food and Wine month in June and thought this would be perfect for us for an extra long weekend stay. I am glad we booked Spicers as we were looking for a luxury couples retreat that was not too big. I noticed the reviews were very good and we were not disappointed. Actually, it exceeded our expectations. The service from the staff from the moment we arrived until we left was exceptional, and all the little add ons were welcomed. Would definitely return and will look to stay at other Spicers retreats when we travel. It was the perfect anniversary.

Room Tip: We had a king spa suite (Room 2) and we thought it was lovely.

Hi Susan,

We are absolutely delighted to hear that you had a wonderful time celebrating your anniversary at Spicers. The Hunter Valley Wine and Food Month is a fabulous time to visit with so many things to do in the area! Hopefully we will get another opportunity to spoil you both again, perhaps for your next anniversary?

Kind regards,
Clare Bremerkamp
