“Authentic Hunter Valley experience”

This magnificent property has become a permanent fixture on our annual travel calendar. Our 5th visit to Kookaburra Hideaway was the best to date.
The location is simply unbeatable. Tucked away off Old North Road you immediately get a sense of peace as you turn down the gravel driveway and onto the property. The natural surroundings are blissful, yet still only a stone throw away from the Hunter Valley's main attractions.
It's a dreamy countryside setting with a stunning, gorgeous aspect which boasts breathtaking views out to the valley behind filled with grazing cows and kangaroos at your doorstep daily.
The fire pit is the perfect spot to sit around and enjoy the starry night sky on a cold winter's night with the days pickings from the local cellar doors.

The house itself is very impressive. With soaring high ceilings & glass doors from top to bottom and all around it really allows you to take in the unique surroundings and Australian landscape. It is very well equipped with huge bedrooms all boasting en-suite and spa bath and all the amenities you would expect. The kitchen is an entertainers dream and very well equipped. There is a huge comfy lounge with an indoor fire place, and an outdoor pool for summer visits.
Val & Andrew are warm and hospitable and take great care and pride in the upkeep of their property. They are always obliging and run a very efficient business. From booking to departure they take care of every detail and make it a seamless and easy experience.

Kookaburra Hideaway has become one of our favourite getaways in Australia, we feel very lucky that it is on our doorstep and in such a wonderful part of the world.
It truly is such a gorgeous place that allows you to get close to nature and experience the essence and beauty of the Hunter. When you sit back on that back porch (wine in hand of course!) and take in the beautiful views you'd never know with the vineyards were so close...
Look no further for a true country experience in the Hunter that no hotel resort could ever offer.
See you next year!

Wonderful place & well set out......Have stayed at a few places in the Hunter and this is in our top 2 so far.......In fact I think it won.
Very spacious and comfortable & clean......Love that all the rooms have their own on-suite. We will definitely be back......So worth it.

I booked Kookaburra Hideaway for my family of 11 to celebrate our first Christmas away together. I was impressed from the moment we approached the house! The house has a fabulous layout with large windows to enjoy the countryside views from every room. I loved the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge which opened onto a surrounding deck and down to the pool (which our family enjoyed all day long, every day). The owners, Val and Andrew, were wonderful to deal with prior to and during our stay, with Andrew even taking us on a wine tour at the end of our stay and taking delivery of our Christmas tree before we arrived. There were also surprising and greatly appreciated extras such as hand soap in each bathroom, ample dish detergent and things like cling wrap, aluminium foil & zip lock bags! Plus we were even able to bring our dog!
We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

What a gem of a place I held a family reunion total 13 all seniors including my 96yr old aunt .The house is huge, self catering accommodation, spotless and comfortable plenty of fridge space and a large b.b.q .with just the best equipped kitchen I have stayed in. Our hosts Val and Andrew were great communicators nothing too much trouble. The house is situated in the country overlooking the mountains with Kangaroos grazing in the paddocks below. Hope we can make a return stay one day in the near future.

We really enjoyed staying here for a number of reasons-a large group of friends with adequate space to move or have a spot to retire to, this place has ticked all the boxes!
The view , airy and freshness amongst the country allowed a group of Sydneysiders to unwind and escape the rat race. The timing also coincided with our 28th wedding anniversary which will be remembered for a lifetime. Loved the kitchens roominess, facilities and space. Hopefully one day we will be back!

“Amazing house, supurb location, great hosts....highly recommend”
Reviewed January 10, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

This was without a doubt the best place i've stayed in the Hunter. The house is HUGE and really well placed in the middle of the countryside - no roads or traffic or anything in sight - just gorgeous 360 degree views of the countryside. The house itself is incredibly well equipped - all the kitchen essentials you could need. Lots of games - cards / ping pong / balls / board games. A pool. The BBQ is massive. Lots of films saved on the TV too if you fancy that. The beds are super comfy. Absolutely perfect for a group of friends of a family. Cant wait to go back. Oh and the hosts were perfect. Definitely do the wine tour with Andrew - he is great.
