“May 2012 stay”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

The location is good, with a 15 minute walk to Jetty Road with the trams and many shops and restaurants. However the motel itself is extremely "tired" and not clean - especially the carpets.
We copped a front room which is very noisy (main Anzac H'way).
Also the shower is very eratic, temperature wise.
All in all, there are far better motels nearby...

Room Tip: Get a back room as the front rooms are on the Highway.

We came by car but to use the tram was no problem from this place - only 10 min. walk to nearby station. Parking at site, small swimmingpool (nice!), large room overlooking an amazingly beautiful tree (traffic didn't bother!) and very helpful/friendly staff.
5 min drive to Glenelg with the wonderful beach - it's so beautiful. To go swimming in the Pacific Ocean is a big treat for someone from Europe.
Will def. stay here again on my next trip to Adelaide (will ask for the same room because of the view).

This motel is conveniently placed close to bus stop to the city or a 10min walk to Jetty Rd to get the tram. From the moment I walked in the staff were very helpful, even booking my bus tour to the Barossa Valley. You get a little noise from the traffic outside, which you get use to and have to expect being on a main road. I will have no hesitation staying there again on my next visit.

An evening arrival into Adelaide Airport necessitated staying nearby, and we chose this property for it's convenient location and competitive price.
Motels are motels, but this ranks a bit better than most. It's stretched out, two-storeys, facing the road on one side and the car park at the rear on the other. There's no lift, so if you don't fancy carrying baggage upstairs, choose a downstairs room.
Reception was friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms were clean and tidy, everything in it's place. At night the place is closed off, and parking is accessed only by use of a an electronic tag. Overall, our stay proved to be a pleasant surprise, and we were given some very good local advice about sights to see and places to eat.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter, but ours - last one available - was at the front, and the traffic noi...

My two teenage children and myself booked in at about 3pm, went for a bit of shopping, came back about 6pm to have showers and get ready to meet friends for dinner, there was no hot water, rang reception to make sure it wasn't just our room, was told they have two boilers and one wasn't working. We had been travelling since 5am and needed a shower to freshen up, had to go out without having showers. Was going to have a shower before bed, still no hot water. Had doctors appointments the next morning, set alarm for 6.15am, no hot water, kept trying hot water for next hour, no hot water, so had to get dress and pack up, as had to have breakfast and get to appointments, dropped key off to reception and mention to the lady that there was no hot water last night or this morning and she said "there is hot water now", no sorry or anything. The ceiling creaked and squeaked when people where walking around in the room above us. This is the first time I have written a review, because I think I at least deserved a sorry.................

Room Tip: Don't stay on the bottom floor.

Dear Penny, we are really sorry about not having hot water on your recent stay. Unfortunately, it was something completely out of our control and we had it fixed as soon as we were able to. I did apologise to you upon your departure and advised that we had the problem fixed and we had hot water at that stage. I apologised to all our guests that day regarding the mishap and I will apologise again to you and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

We thought this hotel had decent reviews, and since we were arriving late (9pm) after a flight in from Sydney, and flying out early the next morning (8:30am flight to Kangaroo Island), we mistakenly thought this hotel would be ok for being there only a few hours. WRONG!! A very friendly young man checked us in for our late arrival, and placed us in a nearby room, while confirming we would simply need to pop in the next morning for an early morning taxi rather than make a booking. He assured us it would be fine.

Our room had 1 almost-broken push-button lock on a doorknob that did not seem that secure. Mind you we were about 15 feet from a major 4-5 lane highway (did not know that when booking the hotel). Accordingly, sleeping in such proximity we likened to sleeping in the middle of the track of the Indy 500. A gentle rain didn't help, as in the middle of the night toward daybreak a constant idle banging of pipes or something outside our windows left us even more on edge. We got a couple hours sleep and went early to check-out for our 8:30 am flight. At that time, we were advised we had to use a taxi-phone outside and queue for a taxi. Following said rules, my hubby discovered we were at the bottom of a queue with it seemingly unlikely we would make our flight. The hotel clerks, although kind, simply said there was nothing they could do. When questioning why when we asked about pre-booking the night before and were told it wasnt necessary, they didn't have much to say other than the guy should have known better. The end result was that hubby & I stood on the banks of the 5-lane highway in pouring rain trying to wave down speeding taxis flying by. One finally took pity on us and "saved the day."

While the room was clean enough, I did not feel secure with the proximity to the highway, outdoor entry, the highway noise was simply unbearable, and whatever piping issues happens when it rains is out of control. Taxi problem took it over the top. An over-priced mess. Do not recommend.

Room Tip: Don't book it.

We were very disappointed to learn that these guests did not enjoy their stay. As we are situated on a main Highway there is obviously traffic noise and we do try to accommodate guests into a room facing away from the main road if requested.

We always encourage guests to prebook taxis the night before, especially if they are heading to the airport as the taxi companies do not take any responsibility if they are running late and guests miss their flights. Unfortunately, we have no control over the taxi companies but, we have made sure that all our staff give our guests the correct information.

I was very glad when we were referred to stay at this motel, considering my budget and length of stay, the managers and staff were more than willing to help me get around and know more about lovely Glenelg and the surrounding suburbs. I never expected such wonderful rapport and attention, not to mention a comfortable homey place to rest my tired feet at the end of the day.

Perhaps a few areas for improvement would be cleaning the rooms more thoroughly (i. e. vacuum and replacing used dishes/towels) and more TV channels to choose from.

Aside from that, I have experienced value added and exceptional customer service and would be more than happy to recommend this to anyone. Their warmth is truly something we will always cherish. Cheers!
