Having left grubby accommodation at another property in Launceston, we found a room at late notice at this heavily booked hotel. Very friendlys taff only too happy to help and provide information. Despite being on the small side, our room was absolutely spotless. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Hotel Charles really was the highlight of our trip. We stayed there for 3 nights this January and had a great time. We had a king bed, a balcony, and everything was very modern. It was very clean and a great base for Launceston. There a few cafe/eateries within walking distance on Charles street itself so even though we had a car, walking was also an option. The shower was great. It's a standard size so it's not huge but the water pressure was fantastic and the bathroom itself is very roomy. The room was well spaced and everything was neat. It was a quiet nights sleep and i would absolutely stay there again. We also dined at the restuarant downstairs, Esca, and i highly recommend it. I am a very boring eater but i found there menu full of nice options and the dessert i had was the best i ever tasted. 100% a great hotel.

Very impressed with our two night stay at the Hotel Charles in a King Room overlooking the lovely garden entrance. Our room (331) was extremely comfortable and clean with trendy decor, beautiful linen & pillows, large LCD television & spacious ensuite with the added convenience of the hotel laundry facility on our level. The included buffet breakfast was exceptional with compliments to the kitchen and wait staff. A short walk into the CBD takes you past some beautiful Launceston residences. Booked via the hotel website in advance for best rates. Highly recommend for 2 persons.

Room Tip: Bed and breakfast package good value.

Stayed at the Hotel with family and booked three rooms. The rooms were delightfully and brightly decorated, - as indicated in the photos on the Hotel website. Very clean and modern. Great check-in, easy parking, central location. Recommended.
Booked directly with the Hotel, happy with the rates offered, so phoned and followed up with email comfirmation, very good communication, polite and helpful customer service.
Would stay here again.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights this month with my partner. We were greeted at reception Friday evening by a very professional gentleman. He offered to take our bags to the room, a very nice touch. Our room was very modern, clean, but a bit smaller than expected (we stayed in a King Studio). We were placed on the top floor with balcony as requested. Bed was very comfy, king size was a luxury. House-keeping was great.

I made the booking direct through the hotel's website to avoid wotif.com booking fees. The price was slightly less than wotif.

Our room rate included free internet use in-room and free parking. Our internet access didn't work during our entire stay after many attempts. The females at the front desk didn't apologise when I brought this to their attention. They did note the issue, and informed me it is an on going problem at the hotel and they will eventually get this fixed. Pity we were not warned about this before booking! Also, a pity such an expensive upgrade from hospital to hotel did not consider an effective and reliable internet supplier. Reception suggested use of the internet downstairs where we could use wireless but this was an inconvenience.

When my partner and I were out having lunch on our 2nd day in Launceston, I received a call from the girl at reception on Sunday, to question the length of our stay. On the system she said we were to stay 2 nights not 3. I told her I made a booking for 3 nights. My booking confirmation confirmed it. She even told me house-keeping were suprised to see things in our room! I was very shocked. Again, no apology from reception when the girl realised an error had been made by the hotel. We arrived back at our room after the phone call to find that we couldn't get into the room because both our access cards were de-coded. So, not only was there no apology as a result of the error, but reception didn't follow through on ensuring we had access to our room for which we were paying 3 nights not 2! Went down to reception to inform them we couldn't get into our room...again no apology. Whilst the girl was re-coding our access cards I asked whether our room had been made by house-keeping earlier. She told me she didn't know, and doubted our room had been made as it was thought we were checking out. Luckily when we finally had access to our room, it was made up nicely by house-keeping.

In summary, the Hotel was clean, tidy, great location. It's close to the lovely cafes and restaurants on Charles street. A coles supermarket located 5 mins walk down the road on Charles st. However, the females at reception need to improve their customer service skills. The gentelman who greeted us on Friday evening 20th January was fantastic.

Unfortunately we won't be returning unless drastic measures are made to get the internet working and reliable, and customer service is improved.

Room Tip: Level 3 offers nice views. Request a room away from the lifts to ensure a quiet room. Kitchenette in...

The architects who turned this former hospital into a modern, trendy and comfortable hotel have really excelled. The rooms are easy to use and the bed and pillows very comfortable. We stayed in an executive studio which was perfect size for us. The hotel is close to a great restaurant and bar strip on Charles Street so there are plenty of dining options. The Hotel Charles is a gem in Launceston
