We booked a double room including breakfast through Wotif for $150 per night over a weekend in early Oct. This is a small (about 15 rooms) art deco styled hotel only blocks from the main areas of the city area. The hotel is known for its Cafe Bar which was full at both dinner and lunch times when we were there. Our breakfast was sensational and we noted patrons were coming in just to eat breakfast. A good breakfast menu selection and well priced, with large servings. Our room was smallish, but modern and bathroom clean and new. Our stay was very pleasant and would recommend Oscar's for good value hotel in a small city.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the inner courtyard (at the back) can be noisy if the function room is being used.

Disappointed, room not the same as the photo on the website, even though we booked for the deluxe spa room.

We had to bring our bags past people eating dinner once arriving.

No mention on their website about the live band that plays until midnight. Not really the romantic getaway we thought we were booking!!!

We booked a studio room and were pleasantly surprised by both the room and the hotel. It's had quite a makeover recently and the studio room we stayed in had a very comfortable queen bed, tea/coffee facilities, a mini bar (costs of items not included), ironing facilities, good hanging and luggage space and tv with multi channels. The room also had free wifi internet although their router was playing up and we couldn't connect. There is also a reverse cycle air conditioner.

The bathroom was a good size with modern facilities, good toiletries and towels. Our room (no 11) was quiet although they do warn that if booking for a Friday or Saturday night you may experience some noise from the bar/restaurant area. We were there on a Thursday night and, although they were doing brisk business downstairs, it was quiet in our room. A good breakfast was included in our rate and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. We will be definitely be coming back to stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side would be quieter for a friday/Saturday stay.

We stayed at Oscar's for our son's wedding. Other family members also stayed there. The reception was in the hotel and everything happened to plan. The function room opened onto an outside courtyard which added to the atmosphere. This outdoor area is used for dining when not booked for a function and also provides access to the rear car park. Although the rooms were not as large as some others we have stayed in, they were suitable for our stay. The room and bathroom were clean with everything you would expect. The staff were very friendly, courteous and always willing to help. Although not a great range to choose from the breakfast was hot and reasonably priced. We would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed one night at this hotel in a studio room at the rear. It was all right but we were disappointed at the size of the room. It was also a bit gloomy. it was nicely furnished and equipped.
