“Already planning our next visit to Bella Retreat.”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Our family, eight adults and six children ranging in age from 16 years to 18 months, stayed at Bella Retreat for three nights over the Anzac Day long weekend. Returning after a very enjoyable visit 12 months ago, we were happy to be back. The property is in a good location close enough to town, and wineries, caves and other attractions are just a short drive away. The two houses are well maintained and very clean. There is plenty of space to kick a ball around or to play some backyard cricket. Guests need to bring their own consumables but everything else they need is provided. Beds were made up when we arrived and there were plenty of towels in the spacious bathrooms. We once again enjoyed a very pleasant family weekend. I have just one suggestion to management: as a family we shared all our main meals at Marela Gardens and a larger BBQ (say four burners) would have been very useful. As it was, we moved the BBQ from Forestview Escape up and managed that way.

Hello Rebecca
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We really appreciate it and your feedback is certainly taken on board. We intend to extend the decking of the Bella Retreat back porch in order to accommodate guests from both houses for dinner so a larger bbq will certainly be in order!
Look forward to having you stay again.

“great cottages - not so great rules.”

Positives;
The cottages were lovely, & very spacious. Especially the bathroom.
Negatives;
There is no air conditioning and the cottages were extremely hot and stuffy.
The rules and regulations were over the top. We didn't use many things as there were notices everywhere saying that our bond would be deducted.
There was only 1 roll of toilet paper per toilet for 7 people over two days. No back up anywhere. Lucky we had brought our own.
It would have been nice if there had been a map included with the key. We had no address on us and had to ring emergency number to find the place.
Over all....nice but don't touch anything.

I'm sorry Helen but nowhere do we stipulate there is air conditioning in this property. Perhaps you should have looked at this before you booked?
Our rules do not stipulate that you cannot use anything. To the contrary, we try to make sure our guests are accommodated as well as we can by equipping the property as well as we are able to make sure our guests stay is as comfortable as possible.
This is a 'self-catering' property. You should be providing your own toilet paper!
Extensive information was sent to you in terms of attachments providing directions etc but as you did not bring these with you, I was happy to talk you through how to arrive at the property in my own time over the phone.
As you called our 'emergency' number, our management team charge $45 to me for this 'call out'. I did not charge you for this although there was no good reason for you to have done this. We specify this on our information sent to you after your booking is confirmed.
Your bond was returned in good faith.
I did not charge you for the 4 changes you made to the booking (which I am charged for by my housekeeping team) and the numerous emails trying to facilitate your many enquiries & changes in guest numbers. Normally I am more than happy to do this but in consideration of this review, I would be more than happy for you to not consider staying with us again in the future.
All our reviews not only on this website but on the other 4 websites on which we are listed are thrilled with their stay at Bella Retreat. I am sorry you did experience like wise.

“Excellent property with two houses accommodating a large group”
Reviewed November 21, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Great location just outside Margarret River township. Both houses on the property were nice and clean. Billiards table in the second house came in handy. However, you will only get to use this if you are renting both houses on the property. Lots of comfortable beds and heaters were provided in some room. Log fires with logs provided were lovely on the cold winter's night. Nice walks around the property with lots of wildlife to spot. Great place to bring overseas visitors and plenty to keep the kids amused.

“A great vacation "at home"!”
Reviewed October 13, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We are a big family group: my parents(seniors), my sister's family with a youth, and my family with a 5 year old. Totally, 7 adults and 1 child. We spent 3 nights there. My daughter loved the playground in the garden sooo much! Even the day we were leaving, she rushed to play for a few more minutes. It rained a lot during our stay, Fortunately, the house is big enough, the owner put a lot of nice CDs & DVDs in the living room, the kitchen facilities are very handy... in short, when we spent time indoor, we still enjoy lot.
The wineries nearby are great too. We bought some wine and had some good food there.
The location is convenient. The property is surrounded by some good wineries and the eagle heritage.
It's not far away from town center either. Although we felt we were living in the forest, we still could go shopping in a few minutes.

“Perfect bush family retreat close to Margaret River”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

This is a two dwelling property close to town and very close to three well known wineries. The houses, which sleep eight and six respectively, are close, but just far enough apart for reasonable noise not to carry from one to the other. The two families with the younger children stayed in one house and us "oldies" with the older kids in the other. The kids ranging in age from 15 down to a baby had an absolute ball. There is a trampoline, assorted climbing equipment and even a pool table available to guests. The properties are well maintained and very clean. Everything is provided. All we had to take was food and drinks. We really enjoyed the few days we were able to spend at Bella Retreat and are planning to make this an annual event.

“Lovely House”

We arrived late into Margaret River and the accomodation office has closed. The owner had left the code to the safe box to retrieve the keys in an earlier email. I was shocked to see that the safe was empty when I opened it & then seeing through the window, an envelop with my name sitting on the desk in the office. I regretted not making a call earlier to inform my late arrival. Luckily when I call the emergency number given to me in the same email, my call was answered & the same person arrived within minutes to retrieve the keys from the office for me.

Our group decided to have our dinner first in town & by the time we arrived at the house, it was already dark. It was kind off scary for us city dweller but luckily I have a torchlight. We managed to find the light switches & to the main door. Once inside & lights on, the house gave us a warm pleasant welcome. It was beautifully decorated & spacious.

There are 2 bathrooms in the house, one on each end of the house; one near to the 3 bedrooms & the second beyond the kitchen, more like in a laundry room. There's a big window at the laundry room with no curtains. Thus only the brave males in our group were daring enough to take their shower at the laundry room. The warm water for the shower was also difficult to control. Maybe when both showers were used, the hot water drain out very fast & left with cold water half way through the showers. The next day we took note to only use one shower at any one time & we didn't have the problem of running out of hot water.

Other than that, we all slept well in the comfortable beds & the kids loved the trampoline. The living area is spacious enough for us to sit around for an evening chat. There's also a lovely outdoor dining area with beautiful flowers surrounding. It is conveniently located off the main road but not disturbed by the traffic.

“Peaceful, clean and great location”
Reviewed January 9, 2012 for a stay in October 2011

We have stayed twice at Bella Retreat over the past two years and we absolutely love this spot. The house is a short drive from a main road and is surrounded by gorgeous grounds and lots of lush greenery. Our children are aged 9 and 10 and they both enjoyed exploring these grounds and playing on the trampoline and tire swing. There is also a covered dining area outside where we had most of our meals. Inside the house there are 4 bedrooms and a lovely dining area with an open plan living area. The kitchen is unusually well supplied for a vacation rental and you will have no problem preparing a complex meal if you get tired of the BBQ. There are toys and games for the children and everything was spotlessly clean on arrival. I would highly recommend this property for families or for other small groups who would enjoy being tucked away in a secluded and peaceful holiday house.
