From the moment Tony picked us up at the coach stop to the early morning lift to the Whale-watching station we felt like real VIPs during our stay at the Admiral Creighton. Our room backed onto a delightful terraced seating area overlooking a babbling brook, fields dotted with milliion dollar horses and in the distance beautiful, snow-capped mountains. The room itself was spotless, beautifully appointed and extremely condusive to cool relaxation. (we loved the huge shower!).
We were greeted first by Molly, an adorable and friendly little dog who amused herself by playing throw-the-tennis-ball with my smitten wife Sue. Then our hostess Yvonne introduced herself with charm and with a cold beer for me and a chilled white wine for Sue. We felt instantly at home. And then we met the eponymous Creighton, a beautiful, white cockatiel with a charming line of patter all of his own. (Make sure you say "goodnight" back to him when tip-toeing in late, otherwise he'll wake the household trying to get an answer out of you!).
Tony and Yvonne booked our whale-watching trip and our star-gazing night (HIGHLY recommended!! The one with Hussain) and coudn't do enough for us; after dropping us off at the whale-watching Tony even paid the i-Site office himself to look after our luggage!
Our only regret is not being able to stay longer in such a welcoming, hospitable and comfortable environment. Would LOVE to go back!!
Thank you Yvonne, Tony, Molly and of course Creighton who we are sure will be calling out "People coming" many, many more times!

This was a comfortable friendly reasonably priced B & B. Our hosts were happy to give advise on the area, and were concerned that we were happy.

Kaikoura is a wonderful place, we particularly enjoyed our walk up Mount Fyffe where the views were outstanding.

Our hosts were very friendly and accommodation was clean and OK.
Creighton is a parrot in the lounge and there is also Molly the dog who greeted us in the morning. Breakfast was good - except for the instant coffee.
The location is on a semi industrial strip on the way in to town.
Our hosts were very helpful. After breakfast we even had our own personal viewing of feeding time of the trout and eels in the brook behind the building. Next time I might try something overlooking the water.

Hi, we take all reviews very seriously. When I find one such as this I must place my comment on record. We have a big black coffee maker sitting in the servery in the dining room it is always on at breakfast time and unless it had been emptied by other guests without our knowledge. we would have refilled it had we known There is also a plunger coffee maker in the same area for guests to make their own at other times.
We strive to maintain a high standard of service and find such inaccurate comments of no help to anyone

This is the place you want to stay when in Kaikoura. Back off the main road (one row of houses between you and the road - so easy to get everywhere) and very, very quite. You will not find a cleaner and more comfortable place to stay. Modern bathrooms, wonderful bedding and the biggest, thickest, fluffiest bath towels you will ever find. The breakfasts are scrumptious.

I had a wonderful stay in this lovely B&B. The Breakfasts were delicious (especially the cooked ones) and the garden was a real treat. Tony and Yvonne Steadman (the hosts) were very welcoming and made me feel very much at home. Their dog Molly and Cockatoo Creighton were a source of endless delight.
It is a bit away from the main town, so unless you are very keen walkers I would recommend having your own transport. Although Tony was very kind with giving me lifts because they are busy I felt like I was imposing when I needed lifts to my various wildlife excursions. The taxis cost approx. NZ$20.
Tony and Yvonne are very knowledgeable about what is available in Kaikoura in the way of Restaurants and 'things to do'.

Stayed at Admiral Creighton on a romantic weekend with my third wife. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Fed the eels, tickled the trout and sampled the generous breakfasts. The host even took me fishing (free of charge) although he did look a bit miffed when I caught more than him (35 perch v 1 blue cod and 10 perch). Thanks for everything especially the spa bath (complete with bubbles and wine).
Good location and good value.

Peter. (from Christchurch).
