We stayed at the Go Copenhagen last year for about a week and had a good experience. So why not do it again. This year the experience was the same. The rooms might not be the biggest, (European sized), but sufficient enough. The beds are very comfortable and everything is clean and well looked after. There is free parking, the wifi is free, breakfast is available for a nominal charge, and the front desk is open 24 hours. The terrace is just outside the lobby area where you can have a "picnic" if you wish, there is a Netto located about five minutes away. Also, there is always available, for a nominal fee, hot drinks in the lobby. The staff are friendly and very helpful. This is a reasonable priced hotel and is in a convenient location. The hotel is situated about a 200 metre walk away from Taarnby Station. It is about a 3 minute drive to the Airport and the Fields department store is only a short drive away or only one stop away on the train.
We use it for our base, for visiting sights or for visiting family, or actually just to enjoy Copenhagen! For starters, Taarnby Kirke is just across the street. This is a beautiful and amazing church, dating from the 12th century. The charming fishing village of Dragor, dating from the 12th century is a 8 minute drive away. We used the Go Copenhagen Hotel as our base to explore more of Northern Zealand. As the hotel is situated just off the highway, it was easy to get on the proper roads to visit different Northern Zealand highlights. Gilleleje, for instance, is a small fishing village on Zealand's northern coast. It is only about an hours drive from the hotel. This town has a very interesting history associated with the rescue of Denmark's Jewish community as it relates to WW2. There are amazing places to visit in the countryside north of Denmark. A few that we visited were Jaegerspris Slot, the town of Frederiksund, Frederiksborg Slot, Soborg Slot Ruin, and among other sites in Gilileje, the church. This will keep you going. Then of course, you will need a beach break, try closeby Amager Strandpark and Bellevue beach. Good places to catch the Sun.
There are perhaps two comments that I shall make about Go Copenhagen, they in no way make me want to subtract any points. One is, this is a popular hotel with workmen, the parking lot can fill up rather full with their vans, etc. We always found a spot to park, but it was rather nip and tuck, literally. The other one is, there is a cultural centre just next door. They seemed to have weddings, etc. going on there quite often. It wasn't the celebrating that got noisy, it was the setting off of fireworks. I don't think that this is legal in Denmark. It didn't carry on and on, but it happened on both our visits there, and of course, at some point gave us rather rude awakenings.
Needless to say, we will stay here again.
