“Nice place to stay with a camper van”
Reviewed 28 January 2012

We stayed here for one night on a powered site with our camper van in December and were very satisfied with the facilities. Especially the bathrooms in the front part of the park are very new and nice. We used the free BBQ area and liked the green and quiet setting of the park in general. We also received a friendly welcome and a lot of information about the park and the area on arrival (don't miss the penguins!). There's also a nice park next to the holiday park and it's only a short walk into the Victorian city center of Oamaru. We can definitely recommend this holiday park.

We stayed here as part of our Rugby World Cup tour and found the site excellent. The facilities were good and very clean and the site is within walking distance of the town. The gardens beside the site are a good place to walk too. Tracy and her team were excellent and went the extra mile. They even arranged a bus to the first England game in Dunedin for us. We didn't do the penguin trip but fellow campers who did said it was excellent.

Great showers, Internet, kitchen facilities and laundry...make sure you do the paid penguin express bus tour...it costs more but you learn a lot about the town and discover a heap you'd miss out on...

Really enjoyed our stay here. We had booked a tent site for two nights. The site was nice, spacious and sheltered. The whole park was really well maintained and always looked well looked after. The amentities block nearst the camping section is a little out dated but was very clean and served its purpose, there is another block at the other end of the park near the cabins which is much more modern, equally clean but also contained the laundry and has a small lounge area in the kitchen, I asked a staff member and there was no problem for the tenters and motor home people at the far end of the camp to use this block. The man in reception who booked us in gave us all the local infomation about the park and things to do around the town and district. He booked us on the penguin evening tour which picks up from the park. was a great night! on the day we were due to leave we decided we wanted to stay a few nights longer but it was raining so we thought we would take a unit for another two nights. The man at reception was very helpfulland gave us all the options and prices, we choose a ensuite unit, they were all full the previous night so He organised it so that our unit would be cleaned first so we could go in as soon as possible. the room was spacious, very clean and modern, with sky tv, lovely hot water and great shower pressure. Will be staying here next time we are in oamaru! fantastic place with great staff!!

We have stayed here twice, the first time we booked the second time we stopped off whilst working our way down the south island.

During both our stays we booked an ensuite unit, and each time the accommodation has been clean and tidy, with well stocked cupboards, the staff have been extremely helpful and the grounds are very well kept. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were spotlessly clean. On our first stay there the staff went out of their way to make sure we were settled in to our room and to make sure we knew all about the local restaurants and tourist things to do.

The park is just a short walk away from the “town” centre, which again has everything you need for a few days stay; there is also a small park just next door which offers a lovely little escape for you and your holiday book.

Oamaru is cute little with place, with a fair few things to do, if you can we suggest you check out the little blue penguin colony.

In all we would recommend this Top Ten park, it offers everything you need at a great price.

This place is located about 15-20minutes walk from the centre of Oamaru and backs onto the Oamaru Gardens which are nice for a walk around if you have time.
If you are a light sleeper I would recommend you bring ear plugs as the train line goes right past the back wall and can get quite loud.
The camp itself is quite small and compact and is currently undergoing some upgrades.
The showers and toilets have just been done and are probably now some of best ones in a camping ground you will find in New Zealand with all the mod cons you would expect.
The laundry was being done while we were there so hopefully they will make the same high standard job of this.
We rented one of their cabins which was basic and old but it was clean and functional for a nights stay.
So overall with the improvements underway it should be an ok place to stay sometime soon.

The owners of this holiday park are thoroughly unpleasant people.
Rude and unhelpful, I would definitely give this place a miss.
