What is it about Nelson accomodation? The options are motor lodges or small bnbs or hostels. It makes deciding where to go a bit tough if you don't dig motor lodges.
Anyway, this place came up as top dog or close to it on trip advisor. Nothing else looked as good. I signed up.
The reception staff are helpful and friendly. The top room I was first in 203 was small and a bit pokey. 104 downstairs was much bigger and better. Rooms away from the road are quieter. The lovely lady at reception gave me free Epsom salts after the Abel Tasman track walk. Very kind.
It's a 10-15 minute walk to the Main Street to buses and restaurants. It's not right in the thick of it. And it's a motor lodge not a hotel. Cars outside rooms. No lobby. Much more low key 70s style. That means the price has to match the offering. This is a bit pricey for what you get I'm afraid given the proximity, room size and aspect but it's slim pickings in Nelson. Look at the competition and you'll see what I mean.
Nice people are a great addition though.More
