We were keen to try the cafe in the newly renovated art gallery. Went there twice recently so as to take all family members. It is a great location within the art gallery, decked out with timber and glass, looking out over the Queen's gardens. You can choose indoor or outdoor seating.
Staff were busy and as friendly as time allowed during peak periods. The interior means it can be noisy especially at peak times with all that wood and glass.
At lunch, food portions of some cabinet items were a bit small, not presenting the best value for money but they were tasty (Eg salmon on rosti $16NZD). The coffees were good. On another visit, eggs Florentine and eggs Benedict ($19.50NZD ea) for breakfast were tasty but the ciabatta rolls that came with both were so hard that they were a challenge to cut up and eat. Took the edge of our pleasure of the eggs.
Overall it's an attractive venue with tasty food at big city gallery prices.
