“A great place to stay in Las Terrenas”
Reviewed 14 December 2011

I stayed at La Tortuga in December of 2011 for four nights and it was excellent. A great value. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and responsive. The rooms are a little spartan (no TV, radios or clocks) which was just fine by me. There is a large screen TV with cable under the main terrace, however, if you care to indulge your TV fix.

The hotel owners, a lovely European couple, live on-site and attend to every detail. It really felt like a home away from home. The pool and garden are just lovely. I could spend hours under the terrace just reading and whiling away an afternoon. Breakfast is complimentary and includes fresh orange juice, fruit, eggs, toast and jam. A really terrific value.

The hotel is a short walk to the main beaches and small town. A great value for the location and the money. The personal service of the staff and the beautiful, understated surroundings are what really sold me. I'll be back.

This was my first time in Hotel La Tortuga after many visits to Las Terrenas.
I read teh reviews, took a look on the internet and all i can say is YOu must go there!!
Our stay was wonderfull, the place is like a little paradise. The room was so clean, so well designed. The little pool doesnt feel like a pool, its more like a spring!

We felt very secure at the place. They take care of every little details in the room, the place, the breakfast.
One of the thing we most enjoyed was the breakfast. The ladies were so kind and helpful. Ufff Whole Bread was sooo good, the scrambled eggs, too!

Definitely, we will go back, again and again and again!
Mauricio and the staff provided us amazing services. We salute you!

Room Tip: Take with you a repellent, because is a beach town you ll meet some mosquitos!

4 minute walk to the restaurant strip, stores, and beach. Excellent continental breakfast. The owner helped us book our day trips and matched us with excellent guides that he knew personally and the day trips were discounted. I felt very safe while there. There was also gated secure parking.

Our family (me, my husband and our 1 year old) son stayed at La Tortuga for a week. Our stay couldn't have been better!
La Tortuga is a hotel with the feeling of a bed&breakfast since there are only 7 rooms. Each morning breakfast was served at the roofed terrace in the tropical garden. It was delicious and one of the highlights for our son who loves fresh fruit (me and my husband could't get enough of the bread!).
The owners Iza and Maurizio made us feel very welcome and at home. The staff was also great and Nathalie even babysat one night to give me and my husband a relaxed evening out.
The rooms were very comfortable (great bed!), clean and spacious. The garden was lovely with enough shade from palm trees. We had the pool to ourselves most of the time (the other guests were at the beach when we stayed around the hotel during naptime) and it was just great if we wanted to escape the heat of the Caribbean sun.
The hotel is in walking distance from beach, restaurants and a grocery store. Yet far enough from the nightlife (although we did hear club music two nights, but that must have been caused by the strong wind, the other nights it was very quiet).
Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend La Tortuga to everyone who wants to visit Las Terranas.

I spent 4 nights at la Tortuga. The location is genious because is only 5 minutes walk to the beach and all the restaurant and attraction but at the same time , it's a very quite place at nightconsidering the terrible noise of the motoconchos going up and down in the street .The apartment they have been decorated with excellent caribbean taste , using local material, colorful walls and lovely shells floor decoration. The apartment is very spacious and provide privecy from the other apartment .The young ladies they work there, Natalie and Iris , they are such a nice people and they made me feel verycomfortable. The place is also very safe at night and provides a generous breakfast . The manager Maurizio is also very welcoming and he will make sure to look after you

We had a wonderful trip thanks to our stay at Hotel La Tortuga. Not only were accommodations clean, comfortable, and stylish, the owners were amazingly nice. Even with the language barrier they helped us book a taxi home, check on reservations, and even personally took us to a place to rent a car.

Highly recommended!

Wish to drop some positive notes on this property. Absolutely charming, friendly, great staff and great location. Less than 5 minutes walk from the main clubs/disco/restaurants and beach, Playa Bonita. Their restaurant, La Salsa, is just 5 minutes walk: great charming place as ell, we ate two dinners, right on the beach. Room was clean. A special mention to the owner, Maurizio. He was incredibly helpful with me, delivering personally a North Face jacket (that I forgot at the Hotel) to the bus terminal in Las Terrenas, calling his suppliers in Santo Domingo and taxi riders, delivering to my hotel in the other part of the Dominican Republic in less than a day. Incredibly efficient (of course, he is a Swiss Italian guy). Friendly atmosphere, A+, highly recommended.
