Owner description: Whitehaven Beach tours with Whitehaven Xpress. A family operated full day trip with snorkeling, swimming, bush-walking and a Whitehaven Beach BBQ. Whitehaven Xpress offers a full day tour from Airlie Beach, including a Hill Inlet lookout walk, Snorkel or Glass bottom boat viewing and 2 hours on the Whitehaven Beach. Whilst spending the most amount of time on the actual Whitehaven Beach, we provide you with a fabulous Aussie beach BBQ including steak, sausages, chilli burgers, salads and tropical fruits. (Vegetarians are catered for on request) The BBQ is prepared for your enjoyment under the shade of the trees while utilising the National Parks picnic tables. On our homeward journey a platter of cheese and biscuits is served. Departs daily at 9 am from Abell Point Marina and returns approx. 5pm with courtesy van pickup. The daytrip is family operated with Terry, Jill, Captain Dan, and Captain Shane providing a unique personal service.

“Great experience with a few down sides.”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

Whitehaven Xpress overall was a great experience. Firstly, the BBQ on whitehaven beach was amazing!! There was plenty of food & choice. We went on a gorgeous day & the views were amazing. The crew were nice to my little group but it's very obvious they get frustrated with people at times and can have some pretty snappy remarks even to the point of embarrassing or singling out someone if they dont do something correctly. This was the only negative thing that really affected my experience. Even with the boat full, there was still enough room to move, there is tap water available but I suggest bringing your own bottle. The crew do a good job of explaining with a map where we are going & facts about the area which is good, they are happy to answer questions also. We really appreciated getting picked up & dropped off at our hotel & luckily didn't have to wait too long, although if you're not on the first load then you can expect a wait at the terminal. I wouldn't choose Whitehaven Xpress again however simply because I'd enjoy a faster boat with a younger crowd. The way they spoke to it's customers does need improvement, I did feel sorry for a few people.

“Enjoyable Experience on the Whitehaven Xpress Tour”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

Excellent day out with the lovely crew aboard the Whitehaven Express. We went for a snorkel at Mantaray Bay and for those who didn't want to snorkel that was all good as we could jump on the Glass Bottom Boat and check out the beautiful fish and coral, then we stopped at Hill Inlet Lookout to look at the amazing views which included seeing Whitehaven Beach, absolutely beautiful views!! Then off we travelled by boat to Whitehaven Beach for a beautiful BBQ lunch and Terry had precut all the salads and fruit salad which looked and tasted yummo!! We got to swim and relax with the goannas for awhile then we enjoyed the views back to Airlie Beach. The day was very relaxing and very very enjoyable, the crew were excellent and we even had them singing "We're all going on a ... SUMMER holiday" song which was quite funny. I would strongly recommend this tour to any traveller, a definate must do experience. LOVED IT!! :)

“Needs a more professional and responsible approach”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

The whitehaven express is certainly that. It covers water quickly and takes you to some great parts of the whitsunday islands. It covers the main attractions, there is time to snorkel, relax at Whitehaven beach and isn't rushed thanks to the large diesel engines. The day is spoilt by the crew who need to raise their game however. There really isn't any room for smoking on the islands whilst escorting groups or on the boat whether people are on it or not. It is grossly irresponsible to be feeding goannas at the bar b. Not much wonder they are scavenging and walking between peoples legs scaring them as they eat. Do the signs everywhere saying DO NOT FEED WILDLIFE not apply to them. I notice in a previous post a child from Iowa had her hand bitten. This was no accident and a result of feeding them food which cannot be good for them either. There is no need to feed animals in such a beautiful environment. This includes the fish and the sea eagles. There is enough to marvel at already.

“Do not do any other tour - will definitely bring more friends back”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

WOW - where do I start. This small family run tour gives a more personal and one on one experience compared to the bigger tour companies. First stop is a short and easy bushwalk up to the Hill Inlet where you will get the opportunity to get your photo taken in the most famous/photographed spot on whitehaven beach. Then you will head to whitehaven beach itself for approx 2 hours. This tour seems to be the one that spends the longest time on the beach as the other boats just briefly stopped, with lots of passengers. Lunch is an amazing barbeque served on whitehaven beach itself. Next stop (on the way home) is at Mantaray Bay where you are the only people to snorkel (if you wish) the amazing coral and sea life below. Thanks to Jill who will pick you up and drop you off on the free courtesy bus, Capt Dan, Asher and Scotty - very friendly, funny staff who will take the time to talk to each and every passenger - nothing is too much to ask. Morning and afternoon tea is also provided. Can honestly not think of any criticisms at all.
