“A great spot to stay in Bankstown.”
Reviewed 9 November 2011

This is the second time I've stayed here for work commitments. I also attended a conference on site. The staff were excellent & service was quick and without any fuss. I had a corner room on level 5 & it was large, quiet & had windows on 2 sides of the room - affording great views of the thunderstorms that visited - and the "blockout" curtains worked completely so no sun disturbance in the morning. The bed was large and very comfortable. The choice of dinner venues in the club makes it very easy to eat in at the end of a hectic day. The food is reasonably priced and very good quality. Only downside was I was stuck having to park the car at the oppersite end of the car park ( I arrived at peak club usage time) & needed to carry my bags the length of the complex. My favourite spot is sitting near the central "rainforest" area with a glass of wine after dinner & talking with friends - like being outside but without the concerns about the weather! I'll use this hotel when I need to be in the area rather than driving across Sydney.

Thank you for the comments on your recent stay with us. Please be aware that the club provides shuttle transfers to the hotel that can be paged via the designated pick up points in the club car park. This service is quite useful particularly for guests with large amounts of baggage.

This trip was for a specific function held at the conference venue on site. The hotel has 6 levels, lift access and reasonable views over suburbia. I chose the upper levels to avoid any possible noise from the venue downstairs as my stay was over the weekend.
It is a little away from the city center and about 30 minutes (average) from the airport. It is something of a rabbit warren inside which might be frustrating or fun - depending on your approach. Once you find your way around it is pretty much straight forward.
There are six restaurants on site and numerous alternatives in the surrounding area, most having an Asian theme. Breakfast can be part of the room package or the Cafe does a nice alternative.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable. As a single I had plenty of space and a queen bed which I found quite comfortable.
If another event I am attending is in the same area I would certainly seriously consider a return stay.

Room Tip: An upper floor room might help reduce noise disturbance if you are staying over a weekend.

I was referred to this hotel by a business associate and actually went there as a last resort. Wow! What a pleasant experience. The staff there was more attentive than many 5 star hotels I've stayed at, and really make you feel at home. Considering the service and price I doubt I can justify staying anywhere else in Sydney.

I've now made 4 visits to this hotel and what I am describing was not an anomaly. They really take great care.

The location (neighborhood) is not 5 star, but the parking is indoor, secure, and easy in/out...and best of all free!

There is also a good selection of restaurants attached in the facility or good local fare close by.

We spent 3 nights here & loved our stay. We came for a wedding and added an extra night to our 2 night stay.

The entrance to the Travelodge was via the Bankstown Sports Club reception / foyer. On first arriving thought how are we going to manage our luggage (which we had quiet a lot of including esky & food box) up the stairs (my husband has some mobility issues) but there were baggage carts available and a easily manouvred ramp between the reception level and the lifts that service the Travelodge section. There were handicapped parking spaces close to the entry from the 2nd level green area which we always managed to find a space in.

We had a room on the 6th floor. Great outlook to the surrounding areas. Only complaint....not able to open the windows. Room well appointed, with table & 2 chairs, kitchenette (sink & microwave, toaster & fridge etc). All very clean and comfortable to spend time in. Comfy queens size beds, slept well, no noise issues at all.

We are not club people, never normally spend time in them, however this was a great atmosphere. Huge club, full on indoor waterfall and rainforest with a massive glass roof covering this area. The club sort of spread itself around this feature. There were 5 restaurants, little bars, cobbled stone streets which looked like an old Italian village with coffee shops and bars nestled into it. Then there were the ballrooms, conference rooms, The wedding reception we travelled down for was held in the "grand ballroom". All very nice.

Did some wandering out and about the general area....this too was interesting, Felt like we had been transported to another country. Asian, Arab, Malaysian, Lebonese businesses everywhere. All very friendly and helpful.

The only thing we did not enjoy about our stay here was the traffic.....Even on Sunday...traffic jams everywhere. We wanted to revisit where we had previously lived & worked which was on the northern beaches area. Spent hours getting there and even more hours coming back.

If you need to be around Bankstown, this is a great place to stay. Would choose to stay here again. Would have appreciated better free TV access & complimentary internet access. Internet at the $10 minimum charge, or by the hour at $10 per hour, we thought was a bit over the top.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are a long way from the lifts, so if you have a mobility issue ask for one close...

Stayed for 4 nights for business after previously staying at the Rydges. They are chalk and cheese, the Travelodge is far better. The rooms are well equipped with qs bed, table chairs and sofa with a good size flat screen tv. Multiple restaurants in the club downstairs with excellent well priced meals.
Will stay here again for my next business trip.

As usual we enjoyed our stay at Travelodge Bankstown. The Sports club is situated underneath the accommodation so is great for a quite drink & entertainment. Once again Heidi made our stay at the Travelodge an enjoyable one. The parking is included in the price this makes the rate very competitive. La Piazza is one of the best places we have been to for authentic Italian food and we find that the club & hotel staff are always friendly and helpful
