“Brilliant mountains hideaway”

Burnie Brae is an immaculately restored and maintained weatherboard Mountains home. The house, although only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Katoomba, is tucked away in a leafy street with a lovely garden surrounding the house. The owner, Michael, was a pleasure to deal with and the rates are extremely reasonable - the rustic kitchen is supplied with tea, coffee, milk and a packet of Tim Tams in the fridge! The living/dining area is spacious and the décor is beautifully done with Victorian colour scheme and décor.
My wife and I needed some real 'downtime' and Burnie Brae was absolutely perfect to relax and clear our heads.
Michael also provided descriptions of local cafes and restaurants which was thoughtful and very useful.
We are keen to return to the Mountains and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

“Perfect Getaway”

We stayed here for three days over the weekend and it was exactly the place we needed. Michael was quick to responding to our inquiry and was accommodating, friendly and lovely to talk with to organize our stay.

As for the house, it was spacious, reflecting the original furnishings with slight modern touches to the house (lighting, underfloor heating, spacious double shower head). It felt opulent, and completely gorgeous. The kitchen itself (with its extension to the veranda outside still in its completion stage) is cute and cosy. The Tim Tams thrown in with extra tea was icing on the cake (and sweet tooth).

The location is quite close to the main street in Katoomba, but the only noise you will hear is the sounds of peace and quiet.

It was a great place to spend a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle. We are recommending it to all of our friends and we will definitely come back here again!

“Just perfect ”

I chose this place for the 5 star reviews, and it did not disappoint.
Imagine you bought a 100 federation home and renovated it to perfection, keeping true to the traditional style, but with modern creature comforts. That's what Burnie Brae is.
Private - bedroom and lounge overlook private leafy garden.
Super comfortable mattress. I slept really well.
Handy having a dishwasher and gas cooking for pancakes ones morning.
I appreciated the free Tim Tams!
The twin shower with archway and it's own lighting and rain shower heads was a treat.
The archways through with Roman style busts were a luxury, as was the rich fabric on the lounges, the wooden furniture, the damask curtains and the lavish rugs.
No expense was spared - glass bathroom basin, power points inside bathroom drawers, extra large oven, hidden utility cupboard. The memorabilia on the walls was really interesting to peruse. We barely had a chance to experience all this property had to offer in just 2 days. I wish we'd been available to extend our weekend to 3 nights at a discount rate to utilise the garden, dining and oven!
Convenient location with vehicle.

“Delightful, comfortable, traditional house in beautiful, quiet garden setting”

We stayed at Burnie Brae for three nights and found it to be very quiet, yet surprisingly close to the amenities of Katoomba, with the main street a 5-10 minute walk away (albeit a bit hilly). The house is in an area of Katoomba that only locals would visit, and since it doesn't get "through traffic", it is always peaceful and quiet. The garden setting for the house is beautiful in spring and the house itself is a wonderful place to relax and socialise or simply read, with comfy sofas and excellent cooking and dining facilities. The kitchen is large and exceptionally well-appointed. The bathroom is large, light and bright, with a very large, walk-in shower. The traditional furnishings give Burnie Brae a special feel that you don't always find in rented accommodation. We would happily stay at Burnie Brae again, when in the vicinity.

Burnie Brae is the most beautiful house that you ever see, the garden is a fairyland, the kitchen it is so lovely that invite you to cook, and having dinner in that living room is going to make you feel like "Miss Fisher" in the 20'. if your wish is to have peace and be in contact with nature, Katoomba is the perfect place for you, and this house is 5 minutes away of the best view of the montains the " 3 sisters" and 1 block away from the train station to Sydney, and 1 block away from the supermarket, and many charming little stores and coffe houses. Also, mister Michael give us alot of information about Katoomba and we didn't have any problems at all, all is so confortable that you will never will want to leave.

Easy to Find. Close to Supermarket Coles. Close to all the major tourist site. Large Kitchen. Better than hotel. But no in house laundry. But there is a laundry close by. Better to have your own transport

“Lovely period house - spotessly clean and very well located.”

Burnie Brae lived up to everything we hoped for. We arrived on a very cold night and were very appreciative of the effective underfloor heating. The house was very comfortable and beautifully furnished to match its era. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Nestled in a quiet street, its beautiful garden and presentation gave it the feeling of being much loved by its owner. Its proximity to the town centre and eating places was also much appreciated. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and left feeling well rested and refreshed.
