The restaurant is located near the port of Roses. It opens around 1pm (Spanish lunch time) during the day. It offers freshly caught fish and sea food. The paellas are good and can keep you running all day.

The location overlooking the marina is attractive and on a sunny Monday lunchtime in early May, sitting out on the terrace, all was promising. We opted for the menu del dia and our order was promptly and cheerfully taken. Before long the scallops au gratin arrived and although small they were generous in number and tasty. So far so good. The terrace was busy and so we patiently waited for about 45 minutes for our main course to arrive before we noticed other tables being served ahead of us. After managing, with some difficulty, to catch the head waiter’s eye we enquired how long our food would be and after returning from a visit to the kitchen he told us it would be ‘dos minutos’. We presumed that our order had been mislaid and that it was now being cooked – such things can happen. Rather more than two minutes later the two plates arrived with a half-hearted apology and on first sight they did not look promising. Tasting confirmed the worst: both the fish and the potatoes were lukewarm and seriously overcooked to the point of being scarcely edible. They appeared to have been around for quite a while – perhaps in a warming oven or similar. When the head waiter cleared our half-eaten food he rather needlessly enquired if we had enjoyed it. When we explained that it was seriously over-cooked his response was an expressive shrug and an unenthusiastic enquiry as to whether we would like a replacement. By now we just wanted to finish the meal and get away, so we politely declined. The panna cotta dessert sadly did nothing to reverse the downhill trend and we left with the memory of a thoroughly disappointing meal – grudging service and indifferent food in an attractive location.

We landed there by recommendation from TripAdvisor. Sodemar did not disappoint. Seafood soup brought entire sea taste in one plate. Grilled prawns was too good to relish. Paella was filling along with Sangria, Beer and Local wines...

It is not overly priced, but it is on the upper side....

Delighted to come across this restaurant pleasantly located by the marina at the northern end of the beach/promenade - one of the best in Roses, serving freshly prepared seafood.
Early season set lunch menu was fantastic value at three courses plus glass for €15 - in my case including a perfectly cooked sea bream - understand this goes up during main season, though would still be worth it in my view.
Attentive and efficient, polite service.
