This old time place has been a favorite for decades but it has suffered from modern influences. The quality of the burgers and even the fries has dropped from exceptional to average or even somewhat below average. The meat is no longer juicy and flavorful but now just like the production meat pushed out by the major chains. Toppings are still pretty good and the buns are fine. Fries have become standard fries and the wonderful chili of the "good old days" has lost body, taste, and joy. Everything is just enough to fill the requirements of being burgers and fries but no longer something special. The quality of the Deluxe has been given away but the dining public has no memories of what was so this is now what qualifies as good. Best to move on to find new memories and not try to relive the great old days.
The service is friendly but sporadic. Very friendly servers who love talking to customers while the rest of the place stands or sits and waits for attention.
Still the same old Nick's booths but now all surrounded by plastic walls.
Clean, happy, noisy, and disappointing but that's only because of knowing what it was. New comers will enjoy starting new memories at Nick's.
