I'm quite sure that most of our monuments won't last as long as those of ancient Rome. The whole centre of Rome is littered with bits and pieces of ancient buildings. Fascinating.

Even if you on a budget you have to take a trip here. You can buy a ticket for Forum Romanum and the Colosseum for 14 euro. You can ealk around here for several days ( you can use the ticket for two days) It's really amazing and YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!
If you love the culture and if you are impressed by old ruins then this is the place to be. Like many buildings and ruins in Rome this is showing how huge Rome was. You gonna like it to see this and letting your thoughts going to the time when the Roman Empire was still powerful.
This area is about 30 minutes walk from the main bus station (Termini).
This area, as well as the other archeological sites nearby, are truly magnificent.
There is a lot of armed security on site so is also safe to visit.
Highly recommended
It was so worth the money to hire a private guide to tour Ancient Rome -- Pantheon, Forum, Colosseum -- areas. We were referred by friends to Sonia Tavoletta. She brought the areas to life with background, historical context, and interesting stories. And she moved us quickly through the entrance lines and throngs of people. Ancient Rome sites are a must-see during Italian travel, and a guided tour made it all so much more meaningful. Thanks Sonia.
I must confess to be more interested in history from the Renaissance onwards but there is no better city to view ancient Roman buildings and artifacts.
