Beautiful but very little staff

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 21, 2024via mobile
We checked into a fairly vacant Lazy Parrot 2 weeks ago. I was nice and quiet with just a few guests. In fact, we only saw 3 other couples the 2 days we were there! Not sure why as April is shouldering peak season in Puerto Rico. That said, it was nice to have peace and quiet while relaxing in the pool which we had to ourselves for 2 days! On the down side, there was little to no staff. The bar remained closed the entire time. MINUS ONE STAR

We did enjoy the Thai restaurant one evening! The food was really delicious. We had the Pad Thai with shrimp, the spicy papaya salad and chicken curry. Highly recommend this place as a lot of locals were in. This was the one time we did see a lot of people. ADD A STAR

The room was nice and had a nice enclosed outdoor patio where we could hang out and dry our clothes after a day at the beach. The beds were comfortable although VERY high!
ADD ONE STAR

The resort grounds were very well maintained and I enjoyed strolling around taking pictures of the property and all the pretty flowers! Definitely a pretty place. Loved the lookout area that also served at the Thai restaurant. ADD ONE STAR

No other food was available for breakfast or lunch but they did have a nice coffee station with many choices of flavors syrups and creamers/milks and teas! ADD ONE STAR

They also had a game room for the kids to enjoy. There were also many large iguanas roaming the property where our room was. It was fun sitting outside our door watching them climb the trees!

Parking was on a very steep hill across from the Inn. Be careful to attend to your rolling suitcases as we almost had one roll down the hill! Haha

Overall the Lazy Parrot was a nice place to stay. Just wish they had staffed the bar! As for breakfast and lunch there are 2 excellent places right next door!

This was my first time in Puerto Rico and our first stop on a multi-city trip. I wish I’d stayed longer! The hotel is beautiful, clean, and classy. We had a very comfortable night’s sleep. Definitely resort-like, with what looked like recent updates to the bathrooms and grounds. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Morning coffee was a nice treat. Our room had a gorgeous view! In our short stay, we also checked out the cafe next door and the restaurant a mile down the street. This turned out to be a great location!

Room tip: Don’t hesitate to book! Stay in a poolside room.

So this is my third time at the Lazy Parrot. Each time I came here, the service has been amazing. It’s literally a small resort. Anyone who wrote a bad review about this place is probably click bait.
We met Edgar who manages the bar restaurant downstairs. They are planning to expand upon the cuisine and overall restaurant experience since the ownership has changed. Edgar provided us with outstanding service.
This is a definitely a must go place.

After reading other reviews where the hotel responAfter reading other reviews where the hotel responds to, I'll make sure that I stick to the facts. We recently stayed here and upon arrival we noticed that the place seemed empty. No big deal. We arrived right at 4pm and were greeted by the front desk rep who was leaving for the day. She handed us our keys and said that she upgraded us to a pool side room for our anniversary. Funny thing is, we paid for a poolside room when we made our reservation, so this was not what I would consider an upgrade. If you look at their website there is no information talking about an "Off Season". Before we arrived in September, I asked when I made my reservation in June for a menu from the restaurant to have an idea as to what to expect upon arrival. At that point the reservation rep should have told us that the restaurant and bar would be closed during our stay. Upon arrival is when we were told that it was the off season and everything was closed. It would have been nice to know this as there are several other hotels in the area that have full service dining. Lastly, we received a call from the hotel the night before we were to check out (the day before Hurricane Fiona made landfall) to make sure we were checking out on time. They didn't ask if we needed anything, just want to know if we were checking out. I get it, it’s a hurricane but hotels have a duty to take care of their guests. Be upfront with your guests.

The loby is leaking from the roof. The room TV did not work. The restaurant And bar were closed and we were not informed in advance. When we arrived on Friday we tried getting in hold with the night manager and she called back Saturday at 12pm
