“Comfortable clean and enjoyable place to stay”
Reviewed June 16, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We felt at home the minute we stepped inside. Everything was as described on the web site.It was affirming to receive the welcome call from Peter to check that we had arrived and all was OK. The bottle of Rose in the fridge was a nice touch.
We were able to cook at home most nights easily for the ten days that we stayed here as everything required to do so was available. However we could not resist dining at Peter's recommended restaurant in Neffies -The Very Table - more than once during our stay in Neffies. It's a not to be missed culinary experience.

“Great Family Holiday”
Reviewed May 3, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We (2A/2C age 13/11)) had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at Libellule. Quick and easy to book and the owner, Peter, couldn't have been more helpful and rang shortly after we'd arrived to check that everything was okay. Neffies is only half-an-hour from Beziers airport and the village/house were both easy to find. The house is as pictured, beautifully presented and was spotlessly clean on arrival. The 3 x bedrooms were extremely comfortable, there is a very well-equipped kitchen and a comfy lounge area with satellite TV. The roof terrace, in particular, came into its own given we had unbroken sunshine for the whole fortnight and was great for reading, sunbathing and eating alfresco. The ground level cellar/garage was also useful for the couple of mountain bikes we hired from the recommended Ozone VTT in Clemont L'Herault. Neffies is an attractive village with a good local epicerie, a boulangerie and a handful of local caves for wine, as well as a couple of restaurants (one highly-rated). We were also lucky enough to be there for one of their Marché Paysan (Farmers' Market) which had a great community feel and offered a range of local food and wine, including fresh oysters from the nearby Etang de Thau. There is a good Super U supermarket in neighbouring Roujan and there are other supermarkets in Pezenas about 15 minutes away. Cycle-wise, the village sits in the heart of an excellent network of well-sign posted MTB routes in and around the local vineyards and there are some good on-road routes available too. Neffies is also well-placed for exploring the Mediterranean coast, Beziers/Narobonne and inland to Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi. Overall, then, a great house in a great location which comes highly recommended.

“Charming base for exploring the region”

We spent one week here as a couple and the second week with friends. The house is as charming as the village, which is so pretty and has not one, but two wonderful restaurants! The amenities were great and the house is well set up for two couples (one floor each with ensuites). It was very easy to get groceries and cook our own meals, make picnic lunches, etc. The village is surprisingly central and we were able to do day trips to everywhere we wanted to visit in the region - as far as Collioure, Carcassonne, Arles...

Lovely place to base yourself for a wonderful holiday!

“Location Location”
Reviewed September 17, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

A house with every thing you could want for a relaxed holiday, situated in the centre of a village that was a pleasure to explore. The countryside was sublime making trips out a genuine pleasure.

Renting was very easy and the owners delightful.

“We loved Libellule”
Reviewed June 8, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The house itself is very well located, just off the main square and is very comfortable, with all we could want. It was a home away from home. All conveniences and a charming roof terrace.

The village is perfect with a small but well stocked shop and a superb bar. We ate and drank on the terrace of the bar two nights and the owners were very friendly and forgiving of our almost non existent French and we enjoyed their excellent food.

We could have happily stayed longer as it is a perfect base for exploring the region and the house is so comfortable to come back to.

“All you could ask for!”
Reviewed April 13, 2014 for a stay in July 2013

We have spent the past many many summers renting houses all over France and have had mostly very positive experiences. Renting Libellule in Neffiès was one of the easiest rental transactions we have had - Peter and Susan are fellow Canadians so all the communication was very clear. I speak fluent French so mostly we rent directly through French owners of properties - this was a (pleasant) surprise to be doing all the dealings in English. Peter and Susan were extremely helpful in recommending places to eat, visit etc... to us even before we arrived and found the extensive selection of tourism literature in the house itself. Knowing we were foodies, they recommended we eat at O Bontemps in nearby Magalas and that was honestly one of the highlights of the trip. (Speaking fluent French helped us get a local taxi to drive us there and home again so we could enjoy some wine with our magnificent lunch!).

The house itself is charming and very well appointed. Lots of stairs though and the upper floor can be a little hot in the height of summer. There is a lovely patio upstairs on the roof where we enjoyed many an apéro in the cool of the setting sun. The house is very well appointed and had excellent wifi. The town of Neffiès is the perfect size for a "home base" in the area. With a tiny grocery store, a boulangerie, restaurants and a café, it's got everything you need and the town is still in driving distance from anywhere you would want to visit in the region (we even went as far as the Camargue one day!).

We're quite picky about our rental homes now with so much experience of them and honestly, this one, we had a hard time finding fault with. The only thing that was not ideal for the 5th person staying with us was that the full bathrooms are located as en-suites in the other two bedrooms. Also the third bedroom is very small so in the summer, got very hot. But other than those things, the house was a really excellent rental property and I would have no hesitation recommending it to friends.

A phone call from Peter to check in on us literally as we were unloading our car and a bottle of cold rosé in the fridge were really nice touches :)

Liked best: Location, house had character yet modern amenities.
Liked least: It was VERy hot when we were there and the fans can only do so much. Also, both full bathrooms are in bedrooms so for the people not sleeping there, they have to go through the other people's bedrooms to shower.

“Charming House, Great Location for Touring”
Reviewed April 4, 2014 for a stay in August 2013

We travel to France pretty much every year, summer or winter, and usually book holiday rental homes - touring different regions of the country.

The booking process was easy, house exactly as listed, and owners incredibly welcoming. To have a phone call in the house within 30 minutes of arriving to see "all good" was a complete (happy) surprise. (And yes, all was.)

As for Libellule itself, a home with modern amenities, but also French character, and lots of space. Positively huge lunge for watching television, and in the heat of summer the rooftop terrace was ideal for reading in the shade, or enjoying an apero. The bundle of local maps and books for touring was a plus.

The town itself is nice and quiet, parking in the square a few steps away. It's a quiet small village, nice to walk around, with other palces to visit very close by - so we initially chose as a good central location.

Highly recommended.
