After spending some time at Fort San Lorenzo, we reached this place to have some lunch. The spot was really good, we had a couple of drinks together with our meal, the food was good and the manager´s service was great. Thanks for an enjoyable experience!

Ate lunch after driving along the Panama Canal. Was the only hamburger meal during the week. Had shrimp and calamari appetizers, Burger was much better, appetizers only marginal. calamari was over cooked and dry. great atmosphere and view of boats and water.

As per the hotel these guys have a captive market as the next nearest bar or restaurant is 1.5 hours away! Typically an American style menu, and often run out of basic items such as wholemeal bread. Was there for 2 weeks waiting to transit the canal and had some quite good meals and some quite poor. But you don't go there for any other reason than to go through the canal. It's a fine terrace for a few beers but cook onboard if you can!

Got the ferry across from Colon wondering if we really were going the right way to find this wonderful spot at the yacht marina. Delicious lunch of cerviche, plantain fritters and calamari. Great service with a smile. Lovely refreshing fruit lemonade. View of the boats and Caribbean Sea. Would have loved to stay the night, small pool to cool off in. So peaceful compared to the other side of the canal.

Thank Sam I

Well, in reality there is a restaurant inside the Agua Clara visitor center (not always open), don’t know for Gatun locks, beside these, the next ones are located in former Ft. Davis or even further away…

The location is inside former Ft. Sherman (is necessary to pass an old checkpoint) and drive through streets of abandoned military barracks (some scenes of a Bond movie were filmed here) really pity of this slovenliness because this used to be a beautiful area with a nice beach (Shimmey beach).

Once arrived everybody made a phew… one would never imagine a yacht club and a functioning hidden restaurant after driving through such a solitary road.

The restaurant has indoors and outdoors; menu had few choices not long. We decided to have a local dish, the “Costa Arriba” ($19.80) which is an octopus dish with coconut rice, very Caribbean dish. The rice had very subtle coconut taste (almost none) served with supposed boiled vegetables (they were still raw), the octopus was very salty… for kids, chicken nuggets with fries ($7.90 industrial tasted like frozen goods bought at the supermarket and prepared at home); soft drinks at $2.75. Food quality below average, just to fill the stomach because there are almost none other choices in the area. Service is not the most fast and efficient, takes long time, is carefree and careless…

A place to stop for lunch and to kill several birds with one stone; Gatun and Agua Clara locks, San Lorenzo ruins and if knew that area during the Zonian era, see what remained of the Gatun spillway, Gatun beach, Tarpon Club etc.. One thing in this side that cannot be experienced at the Pacific side; driving through the locks complete of traffic lights with cars and ships traffic jam!
