This was our second visit to Osa after five years and it was just as spectacular as it was the first time. We stayed again at Casa Linda and enjoyed every minute. The house was spotless, well equipped, well maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and for cooking our meals. We saw so many animals including many macaws, toucans, all four varieties of monkeys and many other birds as well as an anteater. As a photographer it is a paradise. William and Kirk were great hosts and made sure that we enjoyed our time there and we had a wonderful meal cooked by Oliva and her little daughter. We were fortunate to be there just days days before hurricane Otto wreaked havoc and fortunately missed out on the adventure that some other guests had a few days after our departure. Casa Bambu(all four houses) is a very special place for those of us who enjoy the experience of being immersed in nature, no need for watching animal planet there, you get to live it! Can’t wait to go back!

Excellent stay. We woke up every day to monkeys and birds visiting us and went to bed listening to the ocean waves. The location was perfect, with great access to nearby trails and waterfalls, obviously the beach and a local restaurant bar with reasonably priced, good-tasting meals. The owners were very quick to respond to requests. Can't recommend the place enough.

On arrival in San Jose, we got a message from our first hosts in Punta Uva to say that due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Otto (first hurricane to hit CR in 174 years), they would have to close for safety reasons, which we totally understood. So, we phoned Lynn to tell her of our problems, she immediately contacted Kirk who was on site at Casa Bambu to let him know, we then spoke with Kirk who said the property would be available. We booked the very first flight out the following morning to Peurto Jiminez, where Kirk had arranged a taxi for us. He took us straight to the supermarket so we could get stocked up as the rivers where rising and we weren't sure when we would get back into PJ. When we arrived at the swollen river crossing, there on the other sides was Kirk & William waiting for us. We took off the boots and waded across to them, along with all the backpacks and shopping, the adventure had started . . .
When we arrived at Casa Bambu it rained for 15 hours straight, the rain of the kind we have never experienced, anywhere, ever but, despite this, we totally fell in love with the place. This is a place where even the lawn entertains, at dusk, the garden area in front of the house came alive with fire-flys flashing on and off like Christmas lights, such a wonderful scene, sat on the veranda with a cold beer, wow!!
I won't go into detail on all the animals we saw, my Husband described it perfectly "it's like going to the best zoo ever and finding yourself on the wrong side of the fence" and that was during the heavy rains, can't imagine what it is like in the dry.
There are four houses on site, we chose Casa Bambu as it was the first to be built and for us, it just had a little more charm than the others, but, there is nothing wrong with the others, it was a personal choice, they all have amazing views.
I will say, don't come here if you are looking for 5 star luxury-pampered service, you won't get it, what you will get is an experience you will NEVER forget, you feel totally immersed in the environment from the minute you arrive; Kirk & William are the most amazing hosts, the welcome is genuine and relaxed - we decided within minutes that this is a place we want, and will come back to; we have travelled extensively and this is one of the very few places we have said that about - nowhere we have been compares to Casa Bambu for it's uniqueness . . .
We could go on and on and on but that would spoil it for you - just make sure when you are looking at Costa Rica you don't miss this off your itinerary, it really is that good!

This is our 3rd time at Casa Bambu in 4 years - our family loves it here - the combination of wildlife, beaches, surf, and remoteness can't be beat. You may see my prior review for the details on the house and my opinion of it. We don't usually return to vacation spots as we like to explore, but this is the one place we keep returning to!
This review is more to emphasize how helpful the people at Casa Bambu are, especially due to the caretaker, William, and the owner, Kirk. This trip was very unusual as we were there last week, the week of the first Hurricane to hit Costa Rica. Apparently prior to our arrival, there had been over a week of excessive amounts of rain (100 inches in a week!). We had rented a car to drive down, and had to stay in Dominical an extra night as the roads were out to Puerto Jimenez. While in Dominical, we reached out to Kirk, and he was very helpful keeping us updated as to the road conditions (as well as he knew - the information is limited in that regard). When we decided to drive down there, he continued to help us, including meeting us at a river that had overflowed even more, and he helped coordinate a friend taking us across the river on horseback in order to get to Bambu! William was also there to help and walked through the river multiple times with our luggage and groceries.
The conditions were incredibly rainy all week, including during the hurricane that hit further north. Although it was not the week we expected, and we were a bit sad to not surf and enjoy the beach as we usually do, we always felt very safe there, and we knew that William and Kirk were constantly looking out for us, especially as it got closer to our departure and we had again very uncertain road and flight conditions.
During the rain, we were still able to go out on the sea kayak during times when the rain let up. Also, amazingly, Leda made it to the houses every day, so they still cleaned the houses once during our stay, and she was able to cook for us, and the days she was unable to come out, her sister was able to come and cook our dinner. It was very nice of them to accommodate us during these conditions. For those of you considering using them to cook - they are fantastic and (at least for the cook of the family) make it much more relaxing.
These conditions were more rain than anyone there had seen in 40-50 years, but the people at Casa Bambu still allowed us to have a wonderful experience. Thanks Kirk and William!

We were so happy when we arrived for our stay at Casa Bambu, the house was open and waiting for us. Spider monkeys greeted us on arrival. We were provided with helpful information before our arrival. The house location is amazing, just steps from the beach and the house was more than we expected, wide open to the outdoors. During our stay we experienced unusual torrential rains. It has not rained this hard in over 10 years. However, we cannot say enough about Kirk, the property owner and William, our guide and the property caretaker during this time. They went far beyond what we could have ever expected in helping us during the storm, keeping us posted on current weather conditions offering advice and helping us make changes to our travel arrangements. William is an excellent guide and although we were unable to visit Corcovado he took us on an amazing waterfall hike. We love Casa Bambu and will definitely be retuning.
On your visit be sure and have a meal prepared for you. We had an amazing meal of Arroz con Pollo!
