“Fantastic!”
Reviewed October 14, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Just nearing the end of a week long stay. On arrival we were met by Angus who ran over the basics of our stay. Cottage was lovely and includes all mod cons. The cottage lies within the larger estate and is literally access all areas. Lots of walks and things to do for our 9 year old and energetic Labrador pup.
Only 10 minutes from Stranraer for shops. Went to Portpatrick for one evening and ate in Campbell's fish restaurant. Portpatrick is beautiful and deserves a visit.
So much to say about this place, but in summary if you want a peaceful relaxing week away from the grind of Daily life then this is the place to be.
Will definitely be back next year but the cedar lodge at Portpatrick looks very appealing. Then again so does the apartment in Edinburgh! Decisions, decision, decisions!

“A Happy Christmas in Kirkcolm”
Reviewed January 26, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We can't say enough, we had a really spectacular stay over Christmas at the Stables Cottage. Three of us walked, cooked, relaxed, and enjoyed ourselves enormously. We especially enjoyed finding a decorated tree already in the cottage awaiting us! The full kitchen made turning out meals a joy, the the endless supply of wood for the fire made soggy walks a treat to return from. We had tromps through the fields and along the shore, and drove to the Mull of Galloway and Portpatrick on different days... really lovely views and the Crown pub in Portpatrick is worth going out of your way for.

Kate and Angus made perfect unobtrusive but available hosts, and Kate went above and beyond the call of duty when we realized we'd left a necklace behind. She posted it back immediately. We'll be back as soon as we can manage it! Thanks

Thank you so much for choosing Stables Cottage. We were so impressed by your efforts to embrace all the local produce - I do hope you enjoyed all the oysters, the fish and the lamb - we were very sorry there weren't any left overs! I do hope we can welcome you back again in the not too distant future.

“Perfect retreat in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed January 8, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Myself, my husband and our two children (aged 12 & 13) had a wonderful stay over New Year in Stables Cottage. After what was an extremely busy Christmas period it was such a relief to escape everything to stay in our "cottage in the woods". We loved the log burner and the constant supply of wood. We enjoyed long walks in the estate grounds and were amazed to see plenty of red squirrels. The kids loved the new zip wire too. Kate and Angus made us feel very welcome and we appreciated the little extras such as the homemade cookies.
We didn't need to venture out much but did visit Corsewall lighthouse (10mins drive away) and ate there on New Years Eve. We couldn't fault anything about Stables Cottage.

A wonderful week. High quality accommodation in a beautiful location and a warm welcome from everyone we met. Woodlands to wander, the shoreline a short walk away, a magnificent coastline to explore and fabulous gardens to visit. All this and our dog was welcome too.
We plan to return.

We booked a midweek break at Stables Cottage over Easter and had a brilliant time. The cottage was very comfortable for our family of four and had more than enough equipment and utensils for our stay. A very generous welcome pack and luxury toiletries were included. We were free to wander around the estate which we took advantage of and enjoyed meeting the chickens, pony and sheep as well as spotting the abundance of plants and wildlife. Definitely hope to be back in the future and would recommend without hesitation.
