Owner description: The Old Town Hall is one of the most significant monuments in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. Now, it is mainly used for the ceremonial purposes of the capital city, Prague. The historical town hall consists of a set of five medieval houses, the corner of which is adorned with a historical astronomical clock, a gothic oriel window and a massive rectangular tower. The lookout gallery on the town hall tower offers the most beautiful view of Prague. A tour of the historical halls in the Old Town Hall is a unique experience. The expensively decorated rooms date from various periods and are examples of the remarkable development of the town hall complex. The guided tours in various languages are organised in hourly intervals.

Another must see site - 600+ years old and the square fills with visitors from all over the world to see it chime.

It was worth the wait as we stood in a throng near the bottom of the clock. Be sure to look up!

Try to be at the right time to see the clock functioning ie past every hour. Good eateries nearby.

Be there when the hours strikes! Atleast in the evening it was a guy on the top of the tower playing a trumpet :o) Not sure if that happens every hour.....

I think this should be the starting point for all your plans in Prague. Tourist info next to the astronomical clock with his nice history. You can enjoy watching the mass of tourists resembling at the head of each hours (10 minutes before each hour) to see the clock show (squeleton, statue, the coccorico..). You can climb the tour and see the trumpeter contributing to the show. Just close to it the building that wars partially destroyed during the recent ages. You can also see the crosses on the floor, ask for their history. In the other side of the place, the famous cathedral. Sometime, you can enjoy some shows like the joker. Around you can find many shops, cafés, marionettes theaters, etc. Not far also you can find the powder tower, the city hall, the commercial center Palladuium etc.
