Owner description: The most significant square of historical Prague, it was founded in the 12th century and has been witness to many historical events. In addition to the Old Town Hall and the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the square is dominated by the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the Rococo Kinský Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the monument to Jan Hus. In the pavement of the square are memorial stones marking the execution of 27 Czech lords in 1621, and the Prague meridian.

Of course I'm quite biased since I live here. In Old Town Square you will find: St. Nicholas Church - a fine example of baroque, Church of Our Lady of Tyn - a fine example of gothic where you will find the tomb of Tycho Brahe, Monument to Jan Huss, and the Old City Hall which contains the Astronomical Clock Tower. Old Town Square is particularly festive during Advent (Christmas Market) and the few weeks before Easter (Easter Market).

The square is definitely a must if you are visiting Prague. Be careful of the food vendors as they are out to overcharge. I paid 510 cr for a lump of salty meat and a bowl of tasteless cabbage, which I promptly dispose of by giving it to one of the many beggars kneeling around ten square. The churches are beautiful. Take a guided tour for a complete eerie nice.

This is one of my favorite places in one of my favorite cities. This has a charm that cannot be beat. It's where East meets West, and old meets new. You can hear cathedral bells during the day, and disco all night.

Yesn You need to see old town. It has amazing history. But a little disappointing is the astronomical clock. I thought it was going to be a few minute display. There are lots of good places to eat and beautiful buildings to look at.
