Owner description: The most significant square of historical Prague, it was founded in the 12th century and has been witness to many historical events. In addition to the Old Town Hall and the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the square is dominated by the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the Rococo Kinský Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the monument to Jan Hus. In the pavement of the square are memorial stones marking the execution of 27 Czech lords in 1621, and the Prague meridian.

This is a lovely place and is where you will find the fantastic astronomical clock, a must see, there is also the tower which you can climb to the top of and there is the beautiful Tyn church. This is a very busy and popular area so be aware that anything you buy in the square will be very expensive, that includes the restaraunts, I would take a short walk down one of the sidestreets and the prices will be a lot more reasonable.
You also need to visit at night the Tyn church is all lit up and looks amazing.

A trip to Prague would not be complete without visiting the old town; it’s got some lovely cobbled backstreets, and courtyards, with some charming little shops and restaurants. The old town square is the main hub of the town with the impressive astronomical clock and tower, and tyn church, go up to the top of the tower for great views of the square.
But beware the square and the people who sell from the stalls there can be very expensive, that goes for the restaurants too, wander around the backstreet a little and you will find plenty of restaurants at much cheaper prices.
The astronomical clock is amazing, not to be missed, and if you feel upto it there are ghost tours you can book that take you around the old town, we did it and it was very interesting, and when the square is all lit up at night the tyn church looks amazing.

Loved the traditional architecture, all the curved alleyways and delightful little cafes on every corner. The old town is just so beautiful.

Of course I'm quite biased since I live here. In Old Town Square you will find: St. Nicholas Church - a fine example of baroque, Church of Our Lady of Tyn - a fine example of gothic where you will find the tomb of Tycho Brahe, Monument to Jan Huss, and the Old City Hall which contains the Astronomical Clock Tower. Old Town Square is particularly festive during Advent (Christmas Market) and the few weeks before Easter (Easter Market).
