“WOW!”
Reviewed 29 May 2012

This hotel took our breath away! Our room was HUGE with ancient hand painted ceilings. We got a suite, but only booked a double. We had a huge ensuite bathroom with beautiful black and white tiles and excellent quality old style fittings. We had a room leading off from our room through double doors with settees and a table in. A place where you would write your book! The bed was enormous and comfortable and the linen was clean fresh and of a high standard. We didnt spend much time in the room or hotel as Prague is a great place to hang out. I will return to Prague when the weather is poor and spend all my time in this room and read and write and dream and be wonderful.

Wonderful location, but average quality after that. The breakfast was average. Had to put towels on the floor in bathroom because of the half shower door: water got everywhere. We had a bad infestation of ants. You pay a lot and you get a little. The hotel is old and they only updated the bathrooms. Poor picture quality on the TV and just CNN for English viewers. So you pay for the location.

On my second visit to Prague, my partner and I stayed in Charles Hotel and it was amazing. Everything from the more then helpful staff to the beautiful rooms. We didn't know that a buffet breakfast was included till we got there and it was a lively surprise! The buffet breakfast is delicious and such a great representation on Easter European food. Always fresh and the lovely gentleman that supervises it is absolutely lovely...always making sure everything is topped up!
The position is perfect as its at the foot of the most beautiful bridge in the world, everything is within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to any one and we definitely look forward to you back to the same hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for the attic room.....gorgeous!

really great location, a block from Charles Bridge, St. Nicholas Church and tram station. Walk another block, and there's the metro station, walk a bit further and you're in Prague Castle. lots of restaurants nearby. perfect!

at the reception/waiting area, there's a computer with free internet, as well as coffee and tea. there's also free wifi in the rooms, if like us, you brought your own laptops.

room is simple and quite old. but adequately furnished. bathroom is airy and spacious, with a place for our toiletries as well. though, i'd have preferred having a shower curtain to prevent having wet floor after a shower. we also found the pillows to be too wide and flat to be comfortable. i hope they put new pillows in. elevator/lift is bit old and small, comfortable for 2-3 people, 4pax at most.

we loved the breakfast spread. simple but satisfying. some cheese and cold cuts, cereals, fruits, breads/rolls/croissants, jams/pate/butter, sausage. eggs, juices, etc. loved the hot beverage machine as well - there's hot chocolate, coffee, mocha, cappuccino, tea etc..

special thanks to Lenka at reception who made our stay comfortable. from check-in, to helping us with the "The Ultimate Tour" booking, until check-out, she made sure we had a convenient time in Prague. we left a similar note about Lenka on the hotel feedback form and after checking out, we even received an SMS from her saying "thank you" for the nice words. very gracious, indeed.

will definitely recommend this hotel to friends who are planning a trip to Prague.

we arrived at 12:30, but had to wait until 14:00 for the room, ok, it's the hotel's policy. they let us have the luggage stored there. parking costs somewhat 25- 30€ a day, so I just parked two tram stations away for free. the receptionist helped us carrying the stuff to the eleveator, but wrecked our umbrella- some part fell off. I asked him to find it, I will fix it myself. He had two days to do this, but wasn't able to find it. when I asked for a substitute, he said, he can't give me one with the hotels logo on. ??? like it's bad, when I make ad advertising for them, walking around with a hotel umbrella in my hometown (vienna). anyway. the hotel is superb located, 2 minutes away from charles bridge. it is an old house, nicely restored. some details could be better. e.g. we had a cheap, broken lamp from ikea in our room. but the room itself was spacious and clean- though there were some black moldy stains under the bathtub tab. our room was also a bit noisy, cause the electric room was next to us, also the elevator. so there was a steady buzzing. but I guess an old house like this, can't be isolated better. because there is nothing else to do in the hotel, no sauna, pool, etc., you really only stay there for the night. mattress was a bit soft, but ok. breakfast buffet is a bit small, but quality products and a friendly waiter. all in all a good stay and I guess I will be back.
