My other half and I bought a deal through Groupon and were 'upgraded' to this hotel. We thought that the free shuttle from the airport to the hotel was brilliant, although upon arriving at the hotel the first thing we noticed was it was situated opposite a strip club. The lady on the desk spoke barely any English and gave us our key. We were on the second floor. First thing we noticed when we got into our room was that the door had been kicked in a few times and the doorframe had just been screwed back in. The room itself was a bit drab, and everything was a horrible shade of olive green.
The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the Museum (which was sadly closed) and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in the city.
The next day, we showered and ended up with a pretty much flooded bathroom - every time we used the shower it leaked. A LOT. The shower was also very small and awkward - if you knocked the controls very slightly you were either showering in arctic waters or in boiling water and with the small shower it was very hard not to do so. There was also no plug in the sink. My boyfriend accidentally dropped a bottle cap down the sink on the second day and we forgot to mention it to the desk when we left for the day and when we came back, I noticed black grime down the side of my toothbrush and the cap was gone from the sink so we put two and two together - the room service staff had used the toothbrush to retrieve the bottle cap.

There was also no option to have no room service.

On the second day we unpacked a couple of shirts and left them on the bed before we went out - when we came back to the hotel later that day the shirts were nowhere to be found, so we presume the staff had taken them.

The breakfast was in the form of buffet - but on each day we barely ate anything. The bread was stale - it had obviously just been left out over the days we were there and just topped up as and when. The fruit was fresh on the first day, but on the second and third days it was untouched and had gone off - the sliced apple and banana were brown. The milk was in a flask and when I tried some cereal it was warm and on the turn. Juice was in the form of orange and pineapple squash rather than fresh as you would expect from a 'four star' hotel.

On the whole, the only good thing about the hotel was the comfy bed, as even the staff did not speak much English and struggled to understand even the most basic questions, although the the staff were very polite on the front desk, so that is why this is receiving a three star rating.

We will not be coming back.

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights in this hotel. The location is excellent, just a couple of blocks from the subway station Karlovo Namesti. We got a room in the fourth floor with a balcony with a beautiful view of the city. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walking to the national museum and no more than one hour walking distance to the other major city attractions. In our case we preferred to walk to enjoy the city but as i said at the beginning the subway station is located very close to the hotel. The hotel staff is friendly and spoke some English. The room is clean and big, the bed is ok, the only downside is the size of the shower which was very small. A convenience store store is located next to the hotel where you can buy drinks and other meals in case you get to tired to go out again to have to something to drink and eat. I definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Praha.

Room Tip: The room is the fourth floor has a beautiful view of the city

Just back from Prague after 4 nights in December. I stayed at Praga 1. First impressions were that the hotel was a little drab. The lobby bar was empty on arrival. We were welcomed by a very friendly guy on reception. He also gave us some tourist info leaflets. We asked for a smoking room which was not a problem. The room was a little small but adequate. It had everything you would expect at a 4 star but again felt a little drab. The room was clean, had tea making facilities, mini bar a safe and ample toiletries. No iron, although a laundry service is provided. The hotel is centrally located, about 7 miutes fron Wenceslas square and 10 mins from the old town om foot.
Breakfast was buffet service. There was limited hot food and also cheese's,ham and tomatoes etc. There was also cereal, yoghurt and various fresh breads and pastries. I must say I enjoy this type of breakfast. I was surprised to find that the hotel does not provide an evening meal so you must go out to eat. There are plenty of good reasonably priced restaurants nearby so not really a problem. When you exit the hotel go right and turn right at the junction. There is a very good restaurant named Braunuv Sklep opposite the old tower which was excelent. The food was great and there is a lot of history attached to the building.

Room Tip: My room was a smoking room and therefore was located on the 1st floor facing onto the street. When t...

We traveled to Prague for a family occasion with my husband and our 6-months old daughter. It was off-season so the hotel had great deals (40% off if you stay 4 nights)

We booked a superior room with a window to the garden. It was really spacious, we had no trouble fitting in a children bed (which the hotel staff prepared for us). The decor is really nice, with high ceilings and elegant tapestries. The room was clean and new, everything was perfect.

The hotel staff was extremely helpful and easy to approach, they helped us with anything we needed.

During our stay we also visited the historical center, which was a nice walk away. On our way back we took a tram 9 from the "Vaclavske Namesti" which brought us straight back to the hotel.

There are many nice restaurants and a shopping mall in the surrounding. I would really recomend this hotel, just get a room with a window to the garden or side - street if you like it quiet.

Room Tip: Rooms with a window to the garden since there is a tram in front of the hotel.

Easy to get to from the airport if you can't find the hotel transport, We bought a three day bus/tram/metro pass from the information desk in the arrivals lounge for £11. 00. the 100 bus takes you to the shopping centre 5 mins and the metro is opposite the end of the line bus stop. The metro takes you to Karvolo, take the furthest exit from the station (there are 3) and then you walk diagonally across the little park and Zitna street and the hotel will be in view. The trams will take you to all touristy places and beyond. There is a very good resturant 100 yards to your left from the hotel. Smoking is the large dining room to the left and no smoking is the small room on the right as you enter the building. The hotel room was a good size with all amenties and toiletries supplied. I will go again but will ask for a non smoking room.

Room Tip: if you don't smoke ask for a non smoking room

This hotel was about 10 minutes walk from the old town and while it was centrally based in the new town (which is the business centre of Prague), we wanted to mostly visit the more touristy area surrounding the old town. So therefore, it was a bit of a walk to get to sites such as the beautiful old square, Charles Bridge etc. However, this was not too much of a problem for us and there were bars and restaurants nearly that we could visit.
We found the staff to be extremely friendly- the welcome when we arrived was very efficient, we got a high room with a view when we asked for it at check in and they always greeted us warmly when we came through reception during our stay.
The room was very big indeed and it had a double plus a single so would also be good for small families I guess. It was very cold in Prague when we visited but there were several radiators in the room plus a large heated towel rail in the bathroom so it was easy to heat the room up to be nice and toasty when we got in. There was a good selection of toiletries, including hair conditioner, which you rarely get. The only thing I will say is that there was no English language channel on the TV- I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but it's nice to have something on in the background when you're getting ready sometimes!
Breakfast was nice- a good selection of hams, cheeses, cereals, pastries etc. No proper juice and fruit was a bit old but apart from that it was very nice.
I would stay here again- shame it isn't slightly closer to the old town but it is not too far away and I'd say I was impressed most of all with the friendly staff.

My husband and I have been travelling 6 weeks and finally celebrated the size of a decent room! It was well equipped with everything we needed, though the cleaner threw out my plastic bag on the sink that I needed, we were otherwise impressed with the service, the breakfast was very impressive and we managed to walk everywhere in the city not needing any transport. Restaurants around the corner are great for eating at and food was delicious. We recommend this hotel!
