My other half and I bought a deal through Groupon and were 'upgraded' to this hotel. We thought that the free shuttle from the airport to the hotel was brilliant, although upon arriving at the hotel the first thing we noticed was it was situated opposite a strip club. The lady on the desk spoke barely any English and gave us our key. We were on the second floor. First thing we noticed when we got into our room was that the door had been kicked in a few times and the doorframe had just been screwed back in. The room itself was a bit drab, and everything was a horrible shade of olive green.
The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the Museum (which was sadly closed) and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in the city.
The next day, we showered and ended up with a pretty much flooded bathroom - every time we used the shower it leaked. A LOT. The shower was also very small and awkward - if you knocked the controls very slightly you were either showering in arctic waters or in boiling water and with the small shower it was very hard not to do so. There was also no plug in the sink. My boyfriend accidentally dropped a bottle cap down the sink on the second day and we forgot to mention it to the desk when we left for the day and when we came back, I noticed black grime down the side of my toothbrush and the cap was gone from the sink so we put two and two together - the room service staff had used the toothbrush to retrieve the bottle cap.
There was also no option to have no room service.
On the second day we unpacked a couple of shirts and left them on the bed before we went out - when we came back to the hotel later that day the shirts were nowhere to be found, so we presume the staff had taken them.
The breakfast was in the form of buffet - but on each day we barely ate anything. The bread was stale - it had obviously just been left out over the days we were there and just topped up as and when. The fruit was fresh on the first day, but on the second and third days it was untouched and had gone off - the sliced apple and banana were brown. The milk was in a flask and when I tried some cereal it was warm and on the turn. Juice was in the form of orange and pineapple squash rather than fresh as you would expect from a 'four star' hotel.
On the whole, the only good thing about the hotel was the comfy bed, as even the staff did not speak much English and struggled to understand even the most basic questions, although the the staff were very polite on the front desk, so that is why this is receiving a three star rating.
We will not be coming back.
