I've just come from a week in this hotel. At first, having read some bad opinions about the situation in this pages, I thought it would be tedious doing the tryp everyday to the centre. But once there we found it quite easy. It only takes 10 minutes to reach the centre of Prague. The best option is buying a three-days ticket for tram & subway (220 crowns/ 7'5 euros); a problem is that they dont sell it in the hotel (they only provides you one day tickets). A walk to the subway, were you can get it, takes only 5 minutes.

The rooms were clean; I could see myself how couragefull they pass the vacuum every day. The bathrooms are small, but you have other facilities in the bedroom that are welcoming, as an iron, a kettle with tea and cofee, and a minibar. The design of bed and cortains is horrible, and the way they do the bed is the most strange I´ve ever seen. You'll miss more ligth, but you will feel confortable unless your bedroom is comunicate with the next with and interior door (in that case you will hear your neighbour snoring or talking).

The rest of the hotel is charmfull, with an art-deco decoration. It was one of the buildings of the University, and a Holiday Inn were Louis Armstrong was guest. This Hotel have character, you will take pictures of it and surely enjoy your visit, though it has points to improve.

Dear Madam/Sir,

Please be informed that with effect from 31st of January 2015, AUSTRIA Hotels Betriebs CZ, s.r.o. sold Hotel International Prague to the new owner and no more operates this property.

We, as a new owner, unfortunately can not make any comments to your review, whether it is positive or negative.
Since our company took over the hotel in February 2015, we immediately started to work on refurbishment plans, we have been working hard and we still are spending significant time with our team on this project, however it is a process that takes time. During last winter we have already made first renovations by building new Elevator, 24 new Executive rooms, upgrading Lobby area, changing over 1000 m2 of carpets, building new restaurant Symphonia and currently we have embarked on renovation of public areas.

We do hope we will be allowed to welcome you back to Prague and Hotel International to show you our changes.

With kindest regards,

Stepanka Srncova

The structure is Communist 1930s pseudo art-deco, large and somewhat impressive, set on a hill, in a mediocre and remote part of town. There is a trolley immediately in front of the hotel that runs every 15 minutes, and will bring you to the charming area of Prague (with a change to the subway or two trolly line changes) in about 20-25 minutes. This area of town is filled with 1950s stark ugly buildings, very limited restaurants and shopping, and very little charm, unless you like graffiti. Our room was a "suite" which consisted of two (large, by European standards, I suppose) spartan rooms and a large bathroom. The staff is surly, and not particularly accomodative or solicitous. Expect extra charges for EVERYTHING (e.g. 10 minutes on the Business Center computer is $4.). Breakfast is $18 per person for a buffet of scrambled or poached eggs, four cereals, bacon, sausage and some danish. I was grateful that we were stuck here for merely one night before moving to the Intercontinental Praha for the rest of our stay (which I HIGHLY recommend).

4 friends traveling to Prague for a whirlwind tour rented 2 rooms (1 smoking, 1 non smoking). The rooms where spacious (for Europe) and clean. We enjoyed the fact that the windows actually opened. The rate of $140/night was good considering we went during the busy season. The air conditioning struggled a bit as it was around 90 deg (34 deg C). I would recommend this hotel to anyone not needing to be real close to the old town.

We were there for three nights and had a great time. We booked the flights with Globespan and the room direct. We got a great price booking the hotel on the Crowne Plaza home page than using Globespan. As others have commented, it is out of the city centre but the tram/metro service clean, efficient and easy to use. Either get the tram for two stops and then the metro or just stay on the tram. The hotel is excellent and the staff very helpful. The only negative is there is not a lot to do in the area around the hotel but as a base to see Prague it takes a lot of beating.

I stayed here with my fiance + it was just perfect. It was thick with snow outside which made it even more romantic. We had a corner room which was larger than the other rooms. The breakfasts were great and I loved the restaurant because it was all non smoking which makes a nice change!
The staff were pleasant but did seem a little disorganised but not so much that I would be put off staying here again. Don't be put off by the fact that the hotel isn't in the centre - it is so easy and cheap to get there! I personally loved the location + would definitely stay here again.
