We were lucky enough to attend a performance of the Nutcracker and the Cuddly Mouse over the holiday season. The ballet was amazing. A different interpretation of the classic story. The theater itself is stunning. A great night with our family. If you can, slip out to the rooftop during intermission for a fantastic view of the city at night.

I surprised my wife by taking her to a play at the National Theater. Boy was she surprised - the entire play was in Czech lol ! We had a great time ! We went to see V rytmu swingu business srdce me. Basically a swing/dance play about the American liberation of Czechoslovakia during World War II. Even though it was in Czech it was easy to follow and understand. It seemed most of the crowd were locals - and that made the experience even better. ! Unforgettable evening.

Nice ballet performance in a grand, old venue. Such a beautiful city, a ballet or symphony visit is a must.

Excellent, there is no intermission and the show lasts 1 and half hours. Costumes are amazing and well done. The orchestra was great. The cast was very talented and great singers.

I strongly recommend for all ages

We saw the ballet The Nutcracker and the Cuddly Mouse and absolutely loved it - funny, original, engaging, talented dancers. The theatre is stunning, and we had great views despite being right at the back of the cinema (the tickets cost 350kč only - but bear in mind that there is no lift, so we had to walk a lot of stairs to get to the second gallery). During the intermission we took a previous reviewer's advice and took the staircase out to the stunning roof terrace - what a view! Dress code seemed a little mixed (some obvious tourists wearing casual winter jackets and trainers) but it was clear the locals dressed to impress (some in gowns and heels). We went in smart casual (my husband in a shirt, trousers, leather shoes & cardigan but no jacket; I was in a knee-length dress but flat boots) and felt appropriately dressed. Despite it being chilly outside the theatre is really warm so don't be afraid to dress more formally. A wonderful evening out!
