The hotel is situated in Ostrava-Vitkovice, the tram stop is just in front of the hotel and you're downtown in some 10 minutes. Our room was on the top floor, so as soon as we checked in, we were impressed by the view: a rather quaint square with a red-brick townhall and a red-brick church, with the Vitkovice ironworks in the background (for those who are not familiar with the city: these ironworks date back from the 19th century and are a classified cultural monument, and as admiring industrial architecture was the main purpose of our visit, we liked that view a lot). Till the early morning hours.... the room faces the east and the blinds being of poor quality, the curtains non-existant, and a bright June day outside, you can imagine we awoke at about 5 AM.
The receptionists were helpful and friendly, however, didn't speak ANY foreign language at all.
We were disappointed when we were informed that there wouldn't be any breakfast served on Sunday morning because the hotel restaurant is closed at weekends. The thing is that there are no cafes, or restaurants that would open on Sunday morning in the city, so in the end we went to McDonalds and were very grateful for McMuffins. Monday morning proved that we actually didn't miss anything because the breakfast was nothing to write home about: a drink of orange colour which pretended to be orange juice, but obviously never saw a single orange, cereals, but with no yogurt, or milk offered, rolls of supermarket taste, the cheapest sorts of cheese and salami. The absolutely worst though was the personnel: three very mean women with no customer service skills at all.
