Taxi driver gave us a hint about this museum. Very close to the old town, just a few minutes walk. We really enjoyed it and spent over 2 hours, and we are normally not such great fans of museums! The exhibition was very well put up. Starting from the World War I and explaining the background, and moving forward to different stages and geographical areas of World War II. We did not take the audio device (costs extra), and we didn’t feel it was needed. Very clear signs and texts in all rooms. The building itself is also quite impressing. Cloak room is free of charge. If you have a larger bag / backpack you need to put it in a locker. We didn’t have any coins to lock the locker, so we got a token from the lady attending the cloak room.
Will definitely recommend this for friends travelling to Gdansk!

Very informative few hours spent here today. Gives a different perspective on the war than museums in other cities.

We went on two separate days and still didn’t manage to see every exhibit. It was a very upsetting experience but very worthwhile. The personal stories of ordinary families were the most touching. If you go expect to be there for a long time as there is so much to see also you are bound to be affected by the sheer scale of the brutality of WWII.
Would like to have seen more in the shop in English disappointed couldn’t take some of the books home.

A decent few hours spent learning about the history of WW2 from the POV of Poland. I've heard the ins and outs of WW2 for years, but never from the perspective of the nation whose invasion kicked the whole thing off. Some fascinating items from the war on display. English-friendly throughout, like most of Tri City.

We booked our tickets online for this museum and brought them along printed out so we wouldn’t have to wait in any Q. I would strongly recommend getting the audio guide to enhance your experience of the museum, the audio guide recognises what room you are in and proceeds to talk you through the exhibits and showcases. The audio guides are only 5 zloty each (approx £1 gbp). The museum took us about two hours to go around and that was at a brisk pace, you could easily spend double that going through. If you are visiting Gdańsk then this museum is a must to visit!

I visited many museums worldwide but there is something different with this museum. This museum provides you, as a visitor, an experience which goes beyond the information point. This museum managed to give you insight and compassion about this Polish nation and its people through the years of war and the years after that. The interior of each and every part of the museum is created in such a way like you are time travelling to that moment in time. That being said ... this story can not be told without expressing the human darkest side and yet hope, pride and the will to survive and get the best out of people can also been seen. It is definitly a priviledge to witness and experience this museum. Would recommend it for everyone, local and from abroad.
