“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

The Hilton is a terrific hotel, very modern with great comfort and facilities. Myself and my wife stayed here over Easter 2012 for our visit to Krakow. I cannot fault the Hotel at all. The value for money is exceptional.

Our only slight issue with the Hotel is its situation. It is located on the opposite side of the river from the old town, meaning at least a 20 minute walk into town. The walk isn't too bad however abd shouldn't deter from this hotel. We did talk a taxi on one occasion which cost 14 Zloty, approximately £3.

Krakow itself is good with the market square a main attraction. The cloth hall is lovely for browsing although we were very disappointed to find it closed along with much of Krakow on Easter Sunday.

We visited Auschwitz using Escape 2 Poland trip organiser. Auschwitz is a truely horrifying place but it really must be visited.

Escape 2 Poland organised a brilliant trip. We were collected from the hotel in a mini van and driven to Auschwitz. A tour guide who was exceptional was provided and told the story of the Auschwitz. A 5 minute journey to Birkenau and the guide picked up the story of that extermination camp. We were then returned to Krakow. Total cost for two people was £50.

We would highly recommend Escape 2 Poland as a tour organiser.

In summary, Krakow old town has lots to do, see and buy. The Hilton is an exceptional hotel and Escape 2 Poland organised an exceptional trip to Auschwitz.

Room Tip: Higher floors allow the full panorama of Krakow and views of the castle.

This was my fourth trip to Krakow and the choice of hotel was, of course, Hilton Garden Inn. I have stayed there before and have good knowledge of the hotel. See my comprehensive hotel review from 16th March 2011.

Check-in was efficient and the receptionist was very nice.

We had requested a room with a walk-in shower and view to the river and the Wawel Castle, and got it.

Due to late arrival, we chose to eat at one of the restaurants at the hotel. I ordered the "Surf and Turf" as the main course, and finished the meal with a "Seasonal Crumble," which was a lovely dessert. The main course was very good and the price was similar to what you pay at other quality restaurants in Krakow.

The hotel is relatively new and the quality is generally very high.

The hotel is slightly outside the center of Krakow. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk to the Old Town Square.

This time we traveled a lot with public transport. This was very inexpensive (12 zloty for a 24h ticket). The nearest public transport stop, "Most Grunwaldzki", are just a few hundred meters from the hotel.

The use of public transport meant that we got to see much more of Krakow than the traditional tourist spots.

We had a great stay at the Hilton Garden Inn and look forward to coming back.

Good, clean hotel across the river from Wawel. A little walk to the centre but only took 15 minutes and you get some great views of the river, Wawel etc. on the way. Real positive from this hotel was the staff - they were exceptional and helped us out with all our needs. Had a room facing the river and with a view of the castle.Nothing to fault from our experience.

Room Tip: Try to request a higher floor with a view towards the Castle.

The hotel was absolutely lovely, the rooms were immaculately clean and tidy, excellent room service and amenities, spotless bathrooms with a great supply of hot water any time it was needed, and the beds are undoubtedly the most comfortable I have ever slept in!

The staff were just wonderful! No matter what we asked them, they either had the answer, or it was never too much bother to find out for us, and even then that never took them long! I can truthfully say that never in all my encounters with hotel staff, have I met any so helpful, friendly, and kind!

We went on two guided tours on different days, and for each we could be picked up from the hotel and dropped off there again afterwards. The staff were also amazingly helpful in getting these organised to suit our needs perfectly, and again, nothing was too much trouble!

The hotel has a great sense of calmness, security, and homeliness. I absolutely enjoyed my stay there, and would be willing to take my next holiday in Krakow simply to stay in that hotel again, even if you took every other good reason away, but Krakow it's self is a wonderful city. The old town is fantastic to walk around, and an evening stroll by the river below the castle is something I highly recommend to anyone visiting there. All a very reasonable walking distance from the hotel.

I give this hotel my highest recommendation to anyone considering a stay in Krakow!!

Stayed at the end of an East European mini tour (Vienna, Budapest & Krakow). Superb suite, (booked rather than upgraded due to Hilton HHonors membership as it was so cheap) on the 7th floor in the corner nearest the town, got wonderful photos of Wawel Castle from the room windows.

Echo the praise of the food, we ate in the Globe restaurant rather than the lobby bar/restaurant as this was closed off each night for refurb. Great 3 course dinners for two on two nights both coming in at less than £30 total, including drinks.

It is a 15-20 minute walk into the centre of town, but shouldn't be any problem for the able bodied. We found the best way was to turn right out of the hotel and use an underpass about 50 yards away to get on the town side of the dual carriageway, from there an easy walk to the bridge without needing to cross any more roads. There didn't seem to be any ramps on this route though (for wheelchair users).

Concur staff were helpful, room & especially bed comfortable and would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Suites from about £60 per night are a bargain.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in early March and thought it was excellent. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate and very comfy - lovely, smooth sheets and a wonderful bed. The staff were charming and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had dinner in the lounge the first evening and it was well cooked and really good value - one of the best meals we had in Poland. There is a good choice for breakfast. The only downside is the location as the hotel stands on its own on the far side of the river from the town and it is about a 25 minute walk to the main square, so at this time of year walking back late at night is not pleasant, with the cold wind blowing. The taxis are reasonable, but do charge double after 10 oclock. The upside is that the hotel is well placed for exiting the city to the airport in the rush hour and the journey only took about 20 minutes. Although it is located alongside a major dual carriage way, the hotel was very quiet inside, with absolutely no traffic noise audible. If you don't mind being a bit out of town we can certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the castle.
