Self service was fine and all in all great value for money. We went to the one on Szpetalna street opposite the theater.

“Best "Hungarian" potato pancakes ever made!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

We went to this restaurant on the advice of a friend. Don't be shy, the building entrance will take you into an educational facility but follow straight ahead to the sliding door. They will take you to the courtyard where you'll find the entrance to Babcia Malina's.

You will definitely feel a cultural shock when you enter the restaurant, decked out to appear as an old Polish izba. It is self service so grab a menu which includes German and English translation and order away. Pick up your order At the counter and...well, enjoy! The food is hearty and as authentic as it gets. I would say most parties ordered the Hungarian goulash potato pancakes, they are out of this world. So are the meat filled and fried pierogi! A half liter of draft Okocim is all you'll need to finish your meal, if you could handle being rolled out of the restaurant that is...the portions are generous.

We are here for a couple of days and hope to eat here again before we leave!!! Recommended for anyone, families, single parties and those on a budget!

“Authentic Polish!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2012

Don't be shy, just walk up to the counter and order. Or, if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, head down the stairs where you will receive full service. Whatever you do, make sure you try the polish pancakes that have goulash meat in them!! OMG!!! It's like some kind of thin pancake, like a crepe, but they put in cheese and goulash meat and fold it up.. It's crazy delicious!! Also, get the Goulash in the breadbowl. Overall this place is awesome and super cheap!

“Delicately Prepared Polish Food in a Very Pleasant, Casual Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2012

We visit Krakow every year during March on business. Thankfully, Krakow has a wonderful selection of restaurants, but U Babci Maliny really stood out. It is located in the cellar of a grand old art museum.Babcia Malina (Granny Malina) greeted guests at the door. Polish food can be very rich and heavy, but babcia Malina's versions of traditional Polish recipes really distinguished themselves with an almost gourmet quality. We chose a bottle of French and Italian wine, followed by an beautifully made zurek, and a variety of main dishes familiar in Polish kitchens. The atmosphere was quite lively and friendly with antiques decorating the dining room, and heavy wooden tables and benches like those you might see in an Alpine ski lodge. We were too well-fed to try any of the desserts. We left already pleased with our experience when Babcia Malina warmly bid us all farewell and invited us back.
