Pay the extra 30 euros and get a view room! It is spectacular at night! Although this hotel is on the Buda side, high in the hills and not the most convenient to the Pest side where most of the sights are, it is a quiet location surrounded by castles and the Church. Busy during the day with tourists, at night it is lovely with many wonderful cafes and restaurants to chose from.

Our room was comfortable and it was difficult to tear myself away from the window at night to go to sleep in the very comfortable bed!

Room Tip: Danube View to make this a special stay!

This is a short extract review of Hilton Budapest ,Castle District, from the full review on Endeavour Management blog.

Location: somewhat out the city center, on the hill on the Buda side of the Danube. However, compensated by dedicated taxi to the area in front of Four Seasons hotel.

The hotel operates Customer Relations Managers that are in charge of the Executive lounge, the CRM stand at the reception and basically answering guests’ requests and needs.

The hotel scores highly on the welcome factor, mainly due to the dedicated CRM crew and is a VIP friendly.

The hotel's location in the Castle District overlooking the Danube provided a relatively tranquil and beautiful home during our stay. We upgraded to the Executive Floor and enjoyed gracious and warm hospitality provided by Tibor and the others on the staff in the Lounge. The breakfasts were excellent and the snacks plentiful.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Danube are quieter than those facing the street. Our room had a wonderful view.

We lucked out and had a room in the newer section that overlooked the Parliament building and Chain Bridge. Probably the best views in the city! Incredible when lit up at night. The hotel was very clean and everyone was helpful. The breakfast was a large buffet so there wasn't any waiting around. They had a very nice sign saying how different cultures have different ideas for breakfast and they'd be happy to fix what you wanted if you didn't see it. It was very nice being in the Castle district at night as there are a lot of very good restaurants there.

Props to the Hilton Budapest- Castle District. Not the cheapest of hotels, but they certainly did not scrimp on service or guest comfort. It is nicely located atop the Buda hills in the desirable Castle District and within arms reach (almost) of St. Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion. The room i stayed in was comfortable and had the usual Hilton amenities. Nice bedding, nice pillows, nice cosmetics. Some rooms seemed to offer views over the Danube and to Parliament across the river, however mine allowed me a not too bad view over a cobblestone street in Castle and the tons of tourists who flock to the Castle District.

That indeed may be the biggest downfall of a hotel in the centre of tourist heaven! On my way to the hotel from the airport when I saw the hordes of tourists and the gazillion tour buses winding their way up and down the hill from/to the direction of the hotel i wondered whether I had chosen to stay in the wrong place. Castle Hill can get crowded from all the tourists wanting to experience the history, culture and the scenic views. But upon entering the hotel, one forgets the throng of curious people and cameras behind. The staff were welcoming, and the executive lounge lulled one into a sense of security and comfort with offerings of tea, alcohol and canapes.

The executive lounge indeed offers a birds eye view of the Danube river and the buildings of Budapest (the Pest side) from an architecturally intriguing connection between the old castle structure and the newer construction of this hotel where old meets new meets comfort. Tibor in the executive lounge must be commended for his pleasant, professional and oh-so-willing to assist mannerisms. Not to be outdone, the concierge/receptionists in the executive lounge showed themselves to be knowledgeable and helpful, assisting me in planning outdoor trips and activities.

Beware however, meals after hours in the Castle District is next to impossible. If you get hungry after 10pm expect only to eat at the hotel as we found that restaurants in the vicinity (including those claiming to close at midnight) close off their kitchens by 10pm.

That said, three nights at this hotel was three nights too short!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view...

Nestled in the midst of the Castle District, Hilton Budapest is an experience in blending the old and the new. Keeping the ruins of the previous building, Hilton has built a reasonably modern and comfortable hotel within proximity to many of the historic sites of this area - walking distance of St. Mathias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, the Funicular and many others. In a word, this hotel wins on "location".

In addition to this, the hotel offers views of the Danube and the Parliament on the opposite bank and in particular these are prominent in the Executive Lounge. Located on the third floor, this lounge is a hub for all on this floor. With complimentary wireless access and a two terminal business centre adjacent to it, the lounge is certainly good for getting off that work email or printing your boarding pass. It adeptly fosters relaxation and entertainment with breakfast, tea and other beverages as well as light refreshment throughout the day. It also has dedicated staff members who is willing and ready to assist with whatever you throw at them.

The staff in the lounge and the hotel as a whole are warm, helpful, polite and many are knowledgeable about tourist destinations near and far from its Castle District base. The rooms are well appointed with all the usual Hilton amenities; the bedding comfortable and inviting. there is little if any intrusion of noise from the corridor or adjacent rooms and it allows a perfect hideaway. This is certainly a place to stay on any visit to Budapest.

Once the bus loads of tourists have gone, staying at the Hilton is like staying in a magical medieval castle. Being diamond members we were upgraded to an executive floor. We could have upgraded to a Danube view for an additional 25 euros but we were quite happy with the room we had at the front overlooking the road. It was quiet and was a large room with a large bathroom. We had complementary 1.5 litre water every day. The executive lounge provided substantial snacks e.g Lamb chops and veg, cheese board and cakes and some good quality wines with champagne on request. The view from the lounge looked over the Danube and the Houses of Parliament, quite spectacular. The service from all the staff is excellent. It is easy to get to the Pest side as the number 16 bus which runs every few minutes, stops close to the hotel and only takes 5 to 10 minutes to the centre of Pest. There are a number of excellent restaurants, bars and shops in the immediate area and we felt no need to go into Pest at night. The hotel has a handout which recommends and describes a number of restaurants closeby. The hotel also has fixed rates with taxis from the hotel to the airport which takes 35 minutes for 7200 Forints (£20). We bought a 72 hour Budapest Card (7900 Forints)from the concierge and this covered transport for all buses, trams, underground and trolley buses and even gave us free entrance to the zoo.For convenience alone, this is a good buy.
